04 Civic 1.7 p0339

Hi all new here cuz I'm goin nuts! Lol to begin, I got car with 3500 RPM rev limit, read codes p0339, put new oem crank sensor, and pigtail just to be safe and new can sensor both oem, it started and revved up to 7000 no prob, then died! Now it will crank a long long time then all the sudden start up like nuthin wrong but cel and rev limit at 3500? Pull crank sensor plug and itl start after few seconds of cranking? Have triple checked timing? Reset codes, Instantly get cel again? I read online bout s shorter timing belt? Or should I be leaning towards pcm ? Please anyone! Lol thank u I am a mechanic shop just don't have really expensive Honda tools! I do have the 12 volt ground and 5 volt all at sensor.

Intermittent failures are never fun. Sounds like you've got everything you need at the sensor itself. It may be worth while pulling the crankshaft pulley and lower timing belt cover off and having a look. We once saw broken off teeth on the exciter ring. Other things to check for would be debris around the exciter ring, dirty terminals on the sensor and in the connector, fluid in the sensor/connector, etc.

Yes, you really want to make sure you've narrowed it down to that first though. Replacing the PCM also requires a dealer to reprogram keys, unless you also replace the matching ignition switch and immobilizer ring with it.
