I've got a 1.7 honda that came with a vtec engine originally, so I did a swat with a japanese engine still 1.7 but without the vtec and just for the record it was an engine built for a standard transmission but mine is an automatic, anyway
re and re went well, but vtec trouble code error was present so I installed a new vtec that fixed my code error but the vtec doesn't work like it used to. I believe this is a simple fix that a honda tech understands right away. tia

Your ecu is expecting to control vtec, with no vtec head/solinoid, your ecu will through a code, and keep rpm under 3100.

So did you swap the head? You cant just install a vtec solinoid without the Vtec head.

You could also change the ecu to the one that matches your engine, then recode the key/ignition at honda.

I honestly did not know Honda even offered a non vtec manual transmission Civic in Japan..
