So here is what I found out today. I was driving on the highway was doing about 75 mph and was hearing that vtect so loud.up an climbing the hill at 75 mph in 5th gear, the speedometer just stop at 81 mph and will never go any further. I dont think that should happen. Does anyone have any explanation for this?

Willing to bet you have a check engine light on. I can tell you, from experience, that a D17A2 can reach up to ~80MPH in limp mode (5th gear, ~4000RPM is the rev limit when the ECU is in limp mode)

My check engine light is not on..it happened in 4th gear to up a shorter hill..but no check engine light comes on..but on the level road its runs fine.but on the hill it's not passing 80mph.

Were you actually going 81 or did the needle just get stuck there?
