2001 Civic SI Coupe - Starts but dies in seconds

My hubby recently bought a 2001 Honda Civic SI Coupe. I'm not mechanically inclined and he isn't computer literate so bear with me.... It starts but dies within seconds. He has changed the spark plugs, checked the air filter, changed the O ring and cleaned the EVR valve. Mechanic told him he should be getting around 50 PSI but it's a TBI so should be around 15-17 and he is getting 18 PSI. But because of this changed the fuel pump and still getting 18 PSI. Was running great until this started happening. Help!

First question, does the “green” flashing light on the instrument cluster both come on when key is put in and turned to on, and turns off before the engine stops running?

I don't know.... Looks like they have it narrowed down to needing a new timing belt. Really hoping it's something he can do as we don't have over 1k to pay a shop to do.

It looks like hubby has things under control. After buying a new fuel pump, water pump, timing belt, tensioner and renting a tool... The issue seems to be that the recommended timing belt is too big. After getting everything pulled apart he discovered that it all looked like it had all been done recently however the timing belt was too big. Thank you for those how responded to my inquiry.

Yet once again a direct reason to buy OEM parts for such a critical area.
