P1457 or P1456 code

Ive seen in the thread the meaning of these codes. Here is the situation,
i went to autozone to get it scanned, they said it was P1457 i believe. they said first fix would be to change the gas cap. So i put a honda odyssey gas cap on. Had a cousin a visited far away reset it via his works obd tool. It was cleared then about a week later, didnt open the gas cap since. it comes back on again.
I could use all the help i can get because i dont have the money to dish out to dealer.

Re: P1457 or P1456 code

Again, those two codes are (on the site!):

P1456 EVAP Emission Control System Leak Detected (Fuel Tank System)
P1457 EVAP Emission Control System Leak Detected (Control Canister System)

If you put on a new gas cap, did you make sure that you clicked it enough times when you tightened it? Other than that, I am sure that the members will chime in to help you out.

Re: P1457 or P1456 code

I know this thread is VERY old but in case it helps anyone who is reading it:
I had a 1457 code and fixed it by spraying the solenoid valve area next to the gas canister under the car with sealant. I hope that fix lasts a while. I recently got a 1456 code but the alternator was dying at the time and the whole car had low voltage so I'm hoping the 1456 code was a side effect of the low voltage caused by the valve not being energized enough to close. I'll find out after the alternator is replaced by the mechanic.
