Unhappy Intermittent check engine light (CEL)

I have a 2002 Civic LX (102k miles) that had two CEL codes (P0301 -cylinder 1 misfire, P1598 - ELD malfunction) pop up in December 2009.

      Any insight appreciated!

what brand of plug did he use? its very important.

edit: forgot to mention, ngk and denso are the only brands you should use in a honda. if using different brand, swap them out and i bet its problem solved.

I agree. You could try moving the plugs around as was done for the coil.

Definitely also try a fuel treatment, such as Seafoam.

If nothing helps, compression test the cylinders.

Checked with the shop. They used a Champion Double Platinum type and agreed that the Honda recommended brands are what you mention, NGK and Nippon Denso.

Any observations on why the cruise control would be acting up too?
      Thanks

You may want to test the cruise control off switch on the brake pedal and the actuator.

prolly a weak actuator. i had the same issue and rather than replace it, i just tightened the cruise throttle cable. been working fine ever since and it grabs speed within one second of pushing the set button.
