Car Makes Clicking Sound When Stepping On Brake Pedal
Car Makes Clicking Sound When Stepping On Brake Pedal
What is this? A neutral safety switch, something else? When I park on a little incline like a snow hill or some other time when I step on the brake pedal it makes a clicking sound. It seems to happen more when it's cold. Is it some type of electronic switch that lets me switch out of park when i step on the brake? When the cars warm it doesn't happen as much, it has almost 200K miles on it.

What exactly is it's job though? (1) It's gotten extremely loud in one month? (2) How do you replace it?( 3) Will it leave me stranded in another town? Any other info would be appreciated.
Re: Car Makes Clicking Sound When Stepping On Brake Pedal
It keeps the car from being shifted out is park without the brake being applied. There is a mechanical override if it were to fail.
Re: Car Makes Clicking Sound When Stepping On Brake Pedal
It's definitely noticeable, I can hear it over the radio. It seems like when it's cold or the car is parked on a pile of snow its more noticeable. Is it hard to change? Is it behind the brake pedal or gear shifter thats where the noise seems like its coming from?

No I'm not, just shifting out of park. Is it #2 or something different? https://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com...bC1sNC1nYXM%3D
