I’m in need of some guidance since I’m now stumped on what’s going on with my 7th gen..

This isn’t the first time this has happened but every time I sit and let the car idle it does great until the cooling fan comes on (the one closest to the alternator belt.) My radio turns off, the gauges quit working and headlights dim wayyy down and the car struggles to keep running. Lasts 2-3 seconds and then it just goes back to normal like nothing ever happened. I did replace the alternator with a reman Denso and the battery was replaced a little over a month ago. Had a technician from work do a battery and charging system test and it came back great... well kind of.. except now I don’t know what else could be going on. I don’t know if I should tension the belt again or if the cooling fan is just pulling way too much power.. ANYBODY with some advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Definitely would remove and clean and reinstall both main grounds.

Have you taken a volt meter to the battery both with key off and running and running with fan going?

Thanks for the advice! I will definitely try that today. I checked the battery with a voltmeter before the technician at work checked the battery and charging system and it read 12.2 with car off, with it running read 14.7 as far as when the fan comes on no. I was always under the impression the fan on the driver side was the condenser fan but it comes on when the cooling fan should and the fan on the passenger side I was always under the impression it was the cooling fan but it only runs when the a/c is on

12.2 is bit low for battery when the charging circuit is right where it should be voltage wise.

Is that battery past 3 years old?

Still suggest removing and cleaning the battery negative cable from the car itself as well as the ground strap near the hood release to the water passage.

Thank you very much for the advice!!! You were right except it wasn’t where the terminal meets with the battery. It was where the ground cable connect to the chassis. The bolt had basically dug itself in and the cable was free to hit any sort of metal it could. I moved it to a newer better location and it runs great now. So again thank you very much!
