Battery Light

hokay so, If you read in my hot alternator thread...My alternator bolt broke causing my alternator to slip down causing the belt not to spin the alternator...hokay so, charging system light came on and yay noticed and fixed the problem...Now everything is running fine, battery and alternator both are testing good... Now why is the charging system light still on, Is there a way to turn this off?? Oh yea here is some info... 02 Civic HX 1.7L SOHC VTEC COUPE, 5SP Man. yea, that about sums up what you need to know I guess..... Optima red top battery....dont know how that might be great info, but there ya go, you have it now?? what ya guys think??

With the ignition off, pull #6 (ECU) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box for at least 10 seconds. Fuse/relay diagram is on the underside of the lid.

Thatsa no go, tried that along side of battery disconnected... No results

If you tested your alternator properly and its still showing the light something is up. I mean you said the alternator was smoking and overheating which isnt normal. You may be getting voltage dips from damage? Wait a few days and try the method mentioned above as its the reset for it... If that doesnt work the alternator probably got damaged from overheating. Double check your pin job to make sure its correct and also check your grounds. You never know what may have gotten melted when the alt. got hot.

battery light turns off immediately if the charging system problem is fixed. idk, i think you still have issues
