2018 Civic AC blowing hot air
2018 Civic AC blowing hot air
I just bought a 2018 Honda Civic LX it's hot today so I wanted to try the AC. Bummed it's blowing hot air on low or max fan. A 2018 with no AC come on now. I see a TSB for the condenser where the warranty was extended 10 yrs but something tells me if I call a dealership they will be like not today. Any input on where I should start? Thank ya much.

Re: Air conditioning of Honda civic turbo 2018
Call the dealer, be polite.
this is also something you should've checked when you bought the car

Re: Air conditioning of Honda civic turbo 2018
I'm no expert but am learning. 2016-2019 Civics are prone to condenser failures. Your dealer will run a diagnostic ($150 +/-) and if it is the condenser will replace it for free. If however the condenser has caused other parts to fail (i.e. the compressor), you are out of luck and will have to pay for these repairs. The problem is condensers are on back order (2 weeks for me in Canada).
My question is, is the company that makes the condensers (Honda outsourced this part) putting the same old one in or has it been redesigned?

Re: 2018 Civic AC blowing hot air
From service bulletin 19-091:
Wasn't a design issue but instead a manufacturing defect.
The A/C condenser was not manufactured to specification. As a result, tiny holes may develop in the condenser tube walls that allows the refrigerant to leak out.
Re: 2018 Civic AC blowing hot air
Had my condensor in my 2018 Civic replaced in March and the AC quit again last week. My bumper to bumper warranty is out next week . The car is going in tomorrow to be checked again.
