I just took my 2016 Civic in because the A/C hadn't been working well in the past few months. They told me the compressor and condenser were leaking and while the condenser was covered by a warranty extension, the compressor was not covered and the repair would be about $2600. I declined the whole repair for now because of the price. I need to check back with them about the cause of the compressor leak (i.e, whether it was caused by a foreign object), but whatever caused the condenser to leak must not have been that because that would have not triggered the warranty. I'm wondering what my options are at this point? I've heard that this is a common issue in 2016 Civics and it's frustrating that they will cover one part but not both. I'm certainly going to get other quotes from third-party shops. Has anyone had any luck negotiating with the dealer or Honda corporate?

My 2017 Civic EX was not cooling effectively. I checked the surface temp from the vents and it was consistently around 60-65 degress. It should be somewhere between 35-45 degrees (at coldest setting). I had received notice from Honda that they were extending the warranty on condenser and issued a service bulletin (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...63796-0001.pdf). Took it into dealer and luckily for me it was a leaky condenser. They repaired it for free under the warranty.

I wonder if your compressor leak was related to condenser leak - if it was leaking for a long period of time. I think I caught my leak "early" before other damage could happen.

Not sure what else you can do but complain to Honda corporate. That normally isn't very successful in my experience.
