1993 Civic DX A/C Compressor Leak - Need Advice

My 1993 Civic has a small stress crack on the back end of the compressor, sort of by what looks to be a nipple of some sort. My mechanic found it with a dye test. The compressor works fine but a full recharge lasts about 2 weeks & then the air is just warm.

I was going to look for a used compressor (R134A by the way) but then found a product on line made by Cliplight called Super Seal Pro. It is an A/C sealant that contains a chemical that, when exposed to air, instantly hardens and thereby closes the leak. What few reviews I've found seem to indicate that it works.

Has anyone tried this product on a Civic? My mechanic has never used it but is concerned that it might seal off a small valve in the A/C system. My thinking is that if it isn't exposed to air then it will just flow through with the freon & if a leak starts it will do its job again.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Bill

You can use that stuff and potentially harm the entire system which will cost about $2000 OR you can just bite the bullet and have a compressor put in for $300-500 and not have to worry about it. Your call.

Thanks for the reply. I get your point. Just trying to find out if someone has actually used the stuff and what they thought before I go for the compressor.
