Unhappy Civic 2017 A/C compressor back-ordered?

Hi, just came back from the dealership. They told me that they could not replace my leaky A/C compressor on my 2017 Civic EX-T because the part is back-ordered indefinitely. Is that true? Has anyone else heard that? It's getting really hot out here in CA and not having A/C is pretty miserable.

Same here....AC started blowing air last spring, barely 2 years old and with only 30K. Could not get into the dealership, was in no hurry as we assumed it would be a straight forward repair, until August Dealership said new compressor required, would be ordered and in within 5 - 10 days. That was two months ago...numerous calls to the dealership, and even Honda HQ, and all we get from either of them is, "on back order, dont know when it will be in...sorry for your luck". Boy so glad we purchased what twe thought was from a reliable company, at least I think we paid enough it should be. Had we not only just been stung with the oil/fuel dilution issue with our CRV we might not be so frustrated but seriously, what has happened to Honda....certainly not what they use to be,

Hey, did you try tweeting Honda customer service? They were really helpful. I got to talk to a Customer Service District Manager and he helped me follow up with the dealership on the issue.

I received the same response from Norm Reeves Honda Cerritos which is the largest Honda dealer in the world. They said they were back ordered and had no timetable on when they would have the part available. We should find a lawyer to get this part recalled so we don't have to pay $1k+ to not have a heat stroke in sunny California. I'm a sales rep and have literally ruined ten dress shirts driving! (lol) Being stuck on the 405/91/10 freeway without A / C is torture!!

Re: Civic 2017 A/C compressor back-ordered?

I also live in LA so I totally understand how awful it is to be stuck on the 405 (and any other LA freeways) with no A/C. I actually just received a letter from Honda yesterday. They admitted to having used defective compressors and a lot of cars are affected. This is probably why the parts are back-ordered till the end of time. I finally got mine replaced a month ago, thank goodness. I hope you get yours replaced soon!

Has anyone tried finding an aftermarket compressor, may yield faster results?
