Re: Half Shaft Bearing
Yea, i've seen that, seen on other models and many model years too.
If it's not making bearing noise, the bearing isn't bad..... yet. lol
You could replace it now, or wait until it starts making bearing noise to replace it. That could be a long dang time.
Maybe I just haven't owned enough new cars. Just seems early to me, I guess I would have expected 100k miles or so. A few months back I replaced the axle seals on my brother's '12 Accord, half shaft bearing was leaking so I replaced it too. That was at ~130k miles, no idea how long the bearing had been doing that though. It is is a different model, different engine, different trans so can't compare too much.
Planning on ignoring it for now. Parts aren't that expensive, it's usually just a pain to get the half shaft out.
Hey BrotatoChip, how's it going? I was changing my oil today and saw the exact same thing. Actually I saw it last oil change but I thought it was engine oil cause I had minor valve cover gasket leaking (fixed). Now it's dirty again so I know for sure it's not engine again, plus engine oil would be much darker by now.
Just wondering how's the bearing 2 years later? Have you replaced it? If so how did you do it? Seems like steering rack would have to come out, definitely not something I'd be comfortable with.
Attached pic for my leaky bearing. Mine's so leaky it covered almost the engine pan and oil filter with oil.
