Seat replacement
Seat replacement
So I am not your typical civic driver as I am 6'2" tall and 340 lbs. Not a sloppy 340 but a played college football 340. Problem is that I am wide and the civic seats hurt when driving long distances.
I am wondering if anyone else has changed out the Si seats for something else to make it more comfortable to drive.
I sat in a Tacoma trd pro today and thought that maybe I could put a tacoma seat in the civic but I don't know if it will fit.

Re: Seat replacement
You'd probably be better off finding aftermarket seats (recaro would be a great brand to look at, but be warned, their quality comes with quite a price tag), and you'd have to trick the airbag sensor with a resistor. Unfortunately, I don't have any more info than that. I have seen one case on another forum where a guy swapped his seats out with aftermarket, but did not specify what he did to make them work.
I mean, you may be able to get the Tacoma seats to work (unsure if the size of the seat would fit -- they might), but you'd have to fab up a way to get the mounting holes to line up with the civic's. That's really the reason why I suggested the Recaros, since they make seat brackets for most cars out there. I haven't looked into the availability for the 10thgen, either, so that would be another research point.
Edit: here's a link for universal seat brackets for the 10thgen. Doesn't specify what aftermarket brands it works with (most aftermarket seat companies out there model their mounting holes after Sparco's or Recaro's mount spacing -- at least they used to), and since this specifies "universal," they might work with both. Just the driver's side runs $140, and you'd have to get the applicable sliders to match, too, if you want to retain front/back adjustability.
Sidenote: recaro does make more than just racing seat style. They have an ergonomic line, as well. If you have access to a local speed shop, you may want to pay them a visit to see about testing or ordering if you'd rather not order online.
