12v outlet/Stock USB port not working
12v outlet/Stock USB port not working
Hello, The best way I know to explain this is to share with you my entire history with this issue. Please, just hear me out.
So in March of 2018 I bought a 2017 Honda Civic Sport. A few months later I added sub-woofers to using a Scosche Line-out converter. Tapping into the stock head unit's existing speaker wires. Everything is perfect so far. Then sometime later I notice that my 12v Port and USB port are not working on my car. My phone will not charge. Naturally, I check and tested the fuses (1 and 29). I changed them even though they didn't look blown. That never fixed my problem and I eventually gave up.
Fast forward to November 2021. I bought a new head unit, The Boss BE7ACP, a Kicker 2x12inch Enclosure and a Skar 1200.D Amp. It was like Xmas for me. While I was putting in the new HU, I made an awesome discovery. The RED 12v wire had come loose at some point and was no longer connected in its crimp sleeve. I felt silly but also excited to know that my issue was going to be fixed. I fixed the connection and was able to charge my phone again. Now, at some point the issue happened again. No power to the 12v socket or the existing USB port. I let it go for sometime and recently decided to fix again. I pulled out the HU looked at my wiring job. Everything is intact. Hmm, It must actually be the fuses this time? Nope, the fuses were good.
I replaced them anyway because why not? I've looked at the wiring closely and I cannot for the life of me see anything wrong with the connection. Sure, its not a pretty nest of wires by any means but I cannot pinpoint the issue. My ultimate question here is: Could there be a defective Fuse or Relay under the hood of the car the would cause the 12v / USB to not work? This wouldn't be a huge issue if the Head units USB ports didn't charge the phone so slowly. The phone actually discharges when its on the charger. I'm honestly pretty desperate to fix this issue. So much so that Im considering buying a whole new factory Wiring harness for the stock Radio just to redo all of that. The radio works fine. the speakers work fine. I just cannot use the OEM USB port or the 12v outlet thing. Please help me.

Re: 12v outlet/Stock USB port not working
I've gathered new information after hours of reading and looking at front dash panel wiring diagrams/schematics. I realized that after you replace the head unit, you cannot keep the OEM USB plug functional. The wire that used to complete the circuit by plugging into the back of the stock radio is now not connected to anything. And there are no Aftermarket Harnesses available for this. This explains my issue with the USB port but does not explain the issue with the 12v socket. Unless of course this wire is also responsible for the 12v sockets power? So to add to this post Is that wire responsible for the Factory 12v Socket function? If not, then what would be?
Ive seen fixes online like this or this and you just plug it into the one of the new Head units USB ports. This doesn't fix my issue as the New Head unit's USB ports charge my phone incredibly slow.
