Audio volume intermittently decreases - bad USB port?

2017 EX with 24 k miles. The audio volume has been intermittently decreasing by about half for about 2-3 seconds, then it resumes normal volume for about 10-15 seconds, then it decreases again. This issue occurs with all sources - radio, Bluetooth, CarPlay. My iPhone software has been updated. I took it to the dealership yesterday and they replicated the issue with an iPhone, but not an Android phone. They did a software reset and that did not resolve it. They spent several hours on the phone with Honda Support and they could not fix it. I was told it was a download speed issue, which sounds BS as this problem was not happening a month ago.

When I was driving home, I did not plug my phone in and voila, the problem did not occur. Does the USB port go bad? I tried changing USB cables and several of my family's iPhones and it happens with all of them.
