Bad Startup
Bad Startup
2020 10th gen civic with 30k miles. Routine maintenance just had the battery replaced for a bad startup but now the start up takes a little bit longer and has a weird start up crank sound. Motor runs fine once it gets going no problems just a very weird and delayed cold start up and warm start up.
what could this be?
bad starter?
alternator?
or battery? It was just replaced at 30k

Re: Bad Startup
First post for me here, but I've been having the EXACT same issue for the past 3 weeks but mines a 2018. I've searched high and low for an answer but have come up to nothing but dead end solutions. Originally made a post out on Reddit as well a week ago or so.
Like yours, mine takes several seconds to start as if it's struggling. First thing I checked was the battery which would drop down to 10.9V while trying to turn so I replaced the battery. Didn't change anything. Had one of my coworkers, an electrician, start testing voltage to the alternator, battery, grounds, load tests and nothing out of the ordinary is happening. Again, this is only on a cold start. The other problem though - after I've been driving for 30+ minutes, park, then try to turn the car back on after a few minutes it wont start. Lights come on but it doesn't crank, can't hear any symptoms like clicking. Just flat out wont start. Try again, clutch goes in, turn key and it'll struggle again but start fine after that.
I'm at a loss. I've had many possible suggested culprits thrown my way - bad clutch safety switch, alternator, starter, ignition, relay over heating and wont work right away, battery, is there something draining power.
Hesitant to just hand it over to a mechanic at 90$/hr+ and have them troubleshoot all day and not come up with anything other than "we need to replace X and X and X for $1000, then still have the same problem.
Sometimes it'll start fine after already warmed up, other times no. Yungdaxito, if you happen to figure out a solution or what is wrong with it, please shoot me a message! Would be much appreciated.
