Strange starting problem
Strange starting problem
If I leave my car for 16 hours or whatever, more then 8 hours foresure my car wont start on the first try. Normally the second. I just bought a new battery since the other one was weak. After the car is warmed up I have no problems with it starting right away. The only thing I have done to it so far was change the plugs, I am at 70,000 miles. What should I check? This has only started recently happening. Im pretty good with maintenance, I just dont want to start replacing unnessesary things. It only happens when its the first time I start it that day.
thx

Re: Strange starting problem
Have you tried leaving the key at II until you hear the fuel pump stop and then cranking the engine over ??
I have adapted this method on my 05 and everytime doing so it starts perfectly 1st crank.
Sometimes in the cold mornings I cycle it twice before attempting cranking.

Re: Strange starting problem
Yes, letting the fuel pump fully cycle is also the trick when you are down below 1/4 tank. It takes a bit longer for the fuel pressure to build up in the rail. If you are still worried you can always do a fuel pressure test and see if it is correct and maintains correctly...if not, the fuel pressure regulator may be to blame. Let us know what you find.
