Horrible (23-26) mpg? 2019 Honda Civic EX-L
Hey, I don’t know anything about cars but I just got a Honda Civic and the gas mileage seems really poor. Initially I was hitting 23 mpg but now it’s bumped up to 26. Can you guys help me figure out if it’s just my model or am I doing something wrong? I’ll try to answer any questions I can and I’d really appreciate any help or advice

What are your driving habits and road conditions like? Mostly city (not highway) driving? Lots of uphill driving? What are your tire pressures like?
I have a 2018 civic sport hatch with an aftermarket tune (making appx 215 wheel horsepower) and I'm averaging 32-33mpg with about... 70-80% highway miles. I drive mostly chill, but I have the extra horsepower when I need it/feeling frisky

What’s the mileage? Wouldn’t hurt to check the condition of the air filter or spark plugs.
Monitor it live (those should have the on-screen commands). What’s your fuel economy with cruise control set at 65mph?

have you done any maintenance at all?
also, 26 is better than 23MPG, I am unsure if you understand what you are saying...

@sdaidoji Those numbers are terrible given the EPA estimates. I think for the EX-L it's something like 33-34 combined. The EX-L should have a combined fuel economy of 32/42/36MPG (city/highway/combined). My Sport Hatch is 30/36/32MPG (city/highway/combined). If OP is getting Type R numbers (22/28/25 city/highway/combined) with a 1.5T and 130 less horsepower, there's something causing that
edit: got off my butt and looked up actual numbers

I'm also getting terrible gas mileage. Just purchased the car two weeks ago and I'm sitting at the dealership while they check it out. The car says I average 24 mpg which is just awful in my mind. I should be averaging closer to 32. The service guy has already told me that gas mileage issues are hard to diagnose which worries me that they won't find an issue and I'll just have poor gas mileage for the entire time I own the car. I got gas for $3.79 this morning. I won't be able to drive my car at this rate

maintenance helps. filters, oil, etc. did you do them after purchase? i usually do all items when buying, so i know they are done.
Re: Horrible (23-26) mpg? 2019 Honda Civic EX-L
Honestly, no I didn't. The car is Honda certified so i assumed they did the point by point inspection. I have had a bit of an issue with the dealership. I had to bring the car back because i noticed my oil life was at 60%, so i had them do an pil change. When i got the car back, the oil life was still at 60% because they didn't reset it
