Re: Mileage
Honestly sounds about normal. It all kinda depends on the road grade, how you get up to highway speeds to merge, atmospheric conditions (humidity, ambient temps), vehicle load (A/C on vs off)
My '18 Sport Hatch has been getting 31-37.5mpg, usually in the 32.5-34.5 range. The only time I exceed that is if I'm in super gas saver mode on a road trip, and those tanks will net me 38-42mpg, again, all depending on road conditions and how nice I am with the throttle. Took a road trip from Vegas to Oxnard (about an hour north/northwest of Los Angeles) once, was at 48mpg when I got into there, but driving around the town brought that down to 39.5mpg for that tank

Re: Mileage
different than the carburetor cars (which if going downhill you release the throtlle and the nozzle sucks gas from the carb), injected cars will cut the fuel if throttle is closed and in downhill.
going downhill, just release the throttle and see the MPG.
Don't let it lose more than a few 2-3 MPH, it upsets people that uses cruise control if you change speed too much.
cruise control is also a good item to improve the MPG, actually, it's more intelligent than most drivers.

Re: Mileage
This is so true. I use CC constantly and nothing makes me more angry than people in front of me that can't keep a constant speed. One second they are 3 mph under the speed limit, 5 seconds later they're 10 mph over the limit. And sometimes they go back and forth. Under, over, under, over... Just pick a speed already!!
Re: Mileage
I’m having a similar issue with my new 2019 civic ex-l. I had a 2020 ex-l that got about 35.5 mpg on average. Unfortunately that car was rear ended and totaled so now I have a 2019 ex-l. Just bought the car a week ago and only has about 10k miles on it, but is getting 29.7 mpg. Im driving a bit less on the highway now but I don’t think that should cause a shift of 17% worse fuel efficiency.
