That's just it, no problem has been identified. A lot of 2019 Civic LX owners are experiencing this issue and no one has successfully found a fix. I have heard varying stories that it needs a software update but Honda has not come out with it yet and that there will be a recall with letters being mailed out within 2-3 months. Just wanted to know if anyone has had this message pop up and if anyone has had a resolution or heard from Honda.

The first time, they could not find anything wrong and turned off the warning light and hoped it wouldn't come on again. It came on again and then after finding nothing wrong (no error codes) they reached out to Honda Canada's tech department who told them it could possibly be a software issue. The dealership submitted their paperwork to Honda Canada and I started a case with them. They did a great job avoiding all my calls and not returning my messages. Started a case with CAMVAP and am now trying to reach out to everyone with the same issue in an effort to have this problem addressed by Honda sooner than later because I fear that this is more than a software issue and could be a serious safety issue. The car has great difficulty accelerating from a complete stop or a slow speed and I almost got rear ended already because the car failed to accelerate on one occasion. I stopped driving the car after that and am currently renting one.

I have a 2019 Honda SI yesterday I got the same error message, when I called the dealership the lady said, it happens all the time, but the tech asked if my gas cap was on tight, this car has no gas cap! He said it would cost me $125 to look at it but that would go toward expenses. Not sure what to do. I am just out of my warranty.

I know the original post is a few years old but has anybody found a solution to this problem??? I just got this error message this morning on my 2019 Civic LX. NO warranty for me either. If anybody has a solution please let me know!!

multiple systems are interconnected and share data, therefore when one control unit detects a problem and sets a fault code, oftentimes many other control units set their own related fault codes only because the first control unit did. Code definitions usually make it obvious another unit started it though.


read codes from all systems.
Figure out which system and code is the root cause or main problem.
diagnose and repair whatever the actual problem is.
erase all codes.
If u fixed it right, the lights stay off.

I know this is an old thread, but figured I'd share recent experience in case it can help anyone. Had "Emission System Problem" light come on last month and stick around for a few days and then disappear. About 2 weeks later it came back. I was due for an oil change and had one scheduled, but of course it went away a few days before that appointment. Honda had much easier things they could do to empty my wallet, so the guy told me to just watch for the light. Of course it returned the very next morning, so I called and got another appointment. In the meantime I got a free scan at a parts store and it said change air filter. I replaced engine and cabin filters, despite having changed them 2 months prior and still looking clean. Another scan said possibly MAF sensor, so I bought spray and cleaned it. Light remained lit after several drives and my appointment arrived. $200 later, I found out a hose at the back of the engine is splitting in several spots. New one on order and hoping to never see that light again. *fingers crossed* So yeah? If anyone still has issues or has one in the future, check air hoses for any tears.

No idea what hose that is but it could certainly cause evap issues
