OT: Who takes martial arts ?

Like the title says. =)

Where? When? How long?

I use to take Karate and then went to Tae Kwan Do and at the same time, did Wing Chun.

I found WIng Chun to be extremely boring. Stood there for 2 hours punching air and learning wierd blocks.

Karate and Tae kwan Do was much much more useful and a better exercise.

Anyone still taking Martial Arts? I would like to get back into it.

APRboy is on a distinguished road
I took Tae Kwon Do and Aikido at Seikido Tae Kwon Do in London. 5 years, quit at red belt. I've got 5 cousins, 1 aunt who are all black belts in Tae Kwon Do. If any of you live in London, my cousin has a club called Extreme Martial Arts. He's 5 time Ontario champion and Canadian champion once in his weight class. Its a lot of fun. Wish i never quit.

I took karate for about 7 years in London until the school closed down.
The style was Okinawan Go-Gyu-Ryu karate and I got my black belt when I turned 16.
Actually, I had the 8 hour testing when I was still 15, but had to wait until 16 to recieve the ranking.
Best time of my life was there, now its in the gym.

Go-Gyu-Ryu... mmm. sounds familiar
YOu guys have Katas like
Kihon
Seinchin
tenshu?

damn. i forgot wut other ones i know =(

The school i went to was pretty hardcore. We fought without protection, full contact... Knuckle push ups with someone's leg on top of your back... and non-stop blocking punches and kicks UNTIL you're able to block all of it...

It was fun stuff. =)..

Oh, knuckle pushups were the best!
What school did you go to? Where was it?

I'm a brown belt in Judo and I use a belt to hold up my pants in Jeet kune do, it's all open training always practicing on live opponents. Take what works, make it happen.
