Hey 02civic, I'm looking to do a nice paintjob this winter too..
I was thinking a black base with a House of Kolor Sea Blue Kamileon Flake.. Its still up in the air though. I could get a pretty good deal on it and all, but I'm not sure how good it'll look with the style I am looking for.

That sounds good man, maybe you could find someone that could do a photoshop of it for you.I'm still not sure what a good deal is, and exactly how much its gunna cost me for the hood and roof. I've gotten prices ranging from 1000 - 2000....i think its gunna be more like 700-800$$$ a peice.

BTW... I say get the Wings West C/F hood
Also, is anyone going to the LAC meet tomorrow? Just wondering because I'll probably show up with my hubcaps on (no rims)

Thanks man, ya you should do it...we could be twins.
You know how it is though, i just want to try and keep it different. i think everybody wants that though. I'm leaning towards the WW hood too, but i dunno about carbon fibre....the texture of it would mess with the paint job.So is there a meet tonight, what time? I'll probably stop by before hitting GT's.

I read your other thread about looking for a place to get the paintjob done. These guys are really good at paint but they don't always work with flakes and such. I have an HCI magazine that has a DIY of paint detailing with designs and stuff though. I dunno. I'm still kinda sketchy about my paint choice and everything because I'm not sure if it'll match with the simple look I am going for. Ah well, peas!

And yes... there is a meet tonight at 6pm Blockbuster masonville. I'll be there.
Hmm...I never heard about that place outside of strath. All of the places i've talked to were in T.O. and suaga....i'd probably be driving my car up on Saturday and leaving it till the next Saturday so they could do there job right. 1000 of flakes is alot but i can see why it would be so expecive. Since i'm only doing my hood and roof, the materials wont be as much as yours will be but the airbrushing and other things they need to do will be $$$$.
APRboy/Big - R1 style tells me that you know a guy that does really good work in paint? Does he do complex stuff like i'm going for, cuase i'm just at the point where i'm getting prices and shop references. I wanna make sure i get it done, nothing's worse than a bad paint job.

Painting over top a c/f hood won't leave the texture that bad. It all depends on the quality of the hood. There's a couple of people in LAC that have their c/f hoods painted and it looks pretty good.

hmm....maybe. I'll ask around for some close up pics of painted CF hoods. The only thing i was concened about was seeing the lines of the carbon fibre threw the paint. Cuase the marbel effect is going to be fairly subtle and i figured the two wouldnt mesh well. I dunno though, i'll ask around, and the paint shops should know too.
6 pm...what time is it going till????

You have to remember when you get a C/F hood, it's not bare Carbon Fibre. There's going to be a clear coat over top so you're not technically spraying paint on top of the actual Carbon weaves.
As for the meet, it's starts at 6pm and we hang out at BB until 7:30pm where we cruise down to the Canadian Tire at WhiteOaks mall. You're free to leave whenever you want though.... I give you permission... lol

Sorry one more thing, if you DO do it in Toronto or something, make sure you don't go in with as a big question mark or else you'll end up paying far too much. Try doing some research about paint if you want specialty paint and try talking to other companies to get some info that you can use for pricing. I dunno dude, just my .02!
