Broken fog light lens... any suggestions
I just realized I had broken the lens on my foglight on the drivers side. They were factory installed on my 2001 Si. My dealer told me it'll be about $200 just for the lens itself so I'm looking for options.
I did a search of past messages and found some info, but that store doesn't have any available anymore.
My brother suggested I replace the originals with aftermarkets considering I won't need the wiring etc. done and they will look better anyway.
Any Suggestions?
Adam

The dealership told me that because the lens is actually broken (hence a rock hit it) they can't replace it for free and I have to buy another.
I'd like to find a dealer in town that would do a replacement. I actually bought it out of town.
Any dealers in TO to avoid?

I assume several people have had cracked foglights from what I'm hearing.
A recall would be great, I'll ask my dealer to check it out.
Thanks for the replies btw!

My original OEM foglamps cracked.. both of them! I got into an accident shortly after, and was replaced by the insurance. When I was trying to repair them, however, I was told that I could not purchase lenses alone, and I had to buy the whole freakin' kit all over again. At least you have that option now.
However, $200 for lens is a bit too much.......... I think you might want to go with aftermarket OEM knock offs. Or I can recommand Hella MicroDE, the world's best foglamps for entry level price (which also, by the way, are OEM for Audi's).

The OEM foglamps are bright as hell. I have Matrix projectors (ie - zero lighting), so I depend on my foglamps to get around. At first when I got them, they were not set correctly... so I thought they weren't great, just okay. After properly aimed using fine instruments, it was amazing!! The lights goes wider than BMWs, and does not go far (a good thing, for fog lamps).

I talked to the dealer about replacement and they said because the glass is broken, not cracked it's not covered. THe coverage for breakage is because the lamp design gets hot and cold water or winter slush can crack it (temp thing) A full break is considered a rock chip and not covered.
The stock lights are very bright btw, although they look a bit yellow when you have super white bulbs in your headlights.
Gusto, can you still get the knockoff's? If so I think I'll need a pair.
