You really don't need a spring compressor on 7th gens.

I usually have the person wait outside while I do it. I just fire it against a carboard box, so if it does fly apart no junk ricochets off the walls.

But liability is a bitch, isn't it?

When you take that bolt off just have the other person stand on the spring...that does the trick. Nothing flies anywhere.

I've lost count of all the spring changes I did and not once did the nut do anything more than simply fall off the spring. I've never had to use a compressor to change 7thgen springs. Have fun Shiftromatic.....wanna help me install some brake rotors and pads?

how can you be sued? Your are not a professional and the consideration($) will certainly be less than that of a professional and therefore the courts would say that b/c the level of consideration was not up to a professional then the job could not be expected to be that of a professional. Thats my opinion anyway.

I remember that Northern Motorsport on Parkdale quoted me a good price for labour. They do the suspensions for police cars too.
