traffic violations need help asap!!
i got two minor tickets about a year ago, (one speeding (25km over) and the other for not wearing a seatbelt) and my first and only trial date has been set for june 2006, exactly 14 months to the day i filed for a court date. from what i was told through a few different paralegals i can file for something called a "11B MOTION" which is the right to a speedy trial or something to that extent.
my question is how would i go about doing this myself? any info would be much appreciated. thanks.
btw: my trial appearance will be at 2700 eglinton ave. anyone familiar with courts should know which one i'm talking about.

Hope it helps. Adam did a great job writing this up, took his time and knowledge and was kind enough to share it with everyone, be sure to rep him.

yeah, i've read that quite throughly. nice post btw.
i'm thinking of just taking the deal they offer me for a reduced fine when attend court. i spoke with my insurance company and they said that my rates shouldn't be affected as i am entitled to two minor infractions before my driver's rating is affected. the bad thing is that in the next 3 years if i get any ticket at all i could see a drastic increase in my premiums. paralegals want $250 to $5800 to deal with my case.($5800 is a garaunteed tickets dropped verdict or full money back, obviously not worth it in my case)
i probably won't be properly prepared and i have no experience court cases as this is my first offence...if they don't offer me a deal i'm probably going to get convicted for both charges and end up paying the full fine plus 3 points.
ah well, at least i delayed it for over a year and it's still cheaper paying the full fine than going through paralegals. on the bright side of things, my insurance just got renewed and it actually went down by $25 a month for the next 12 months. LOL!
i probably won't be laughing come renewal next year.
Im glad you read my DIY, I would just follow my steps and go to trial. I mean since its not going to affect your insurance in any very signifigant way the trial option may be better.
If I was in your shoes I wouold recommend you plea innocent and tell the courts that you now always buckle up and your trying to drive slower. Unless the judge is a total a$$hole he should give you about the same as the justice is offering, perhaps less. There are a$$hole judges out there but you can tell the prosecutor your pleaing innoncent then change your mind and plea guility last minute, or vice versa. In any case you have nothing to loose with insurance.
I hate taking the justice's deals
