Very interested. I'm in for the fronts for SURE. However I'm also looking for the rear rotors for an Acura EL, and only KVR makes them specifically for my car.....would you be able to find out if I can get similar pricing on a set of rear Acura 1.7EL rotors? I want them crossdrilled and plated as well.

Thanks keigo! this is wht i was told, the plating is for corrosion purposes. They plate the entire rotor, inside the vents and slots so it will not rust like oem ones. Telly i will find out for you for the rear rotors.

Hey Andy, thanks for posting this up man.
Jer, If you are interested in pads too, i think we can work out a package deal for that. The more people for the GB the lower price we can get.

Our protege has been using KVR rotors and their carbon ceramic pads for auto-x and daily driving and he and I can vouche for them. They stop reasonably well and as far as i know, no brake fade.
Chris is just busy with exams and work, he should be visiting the forum as his stuff dies down. I will try to answer any other questions.
Thanks a lot guys

Hey guys,
Here is a write up on the KVR pads:
Here are actual pictures showing the color difference of the gold cadmium plating vs the silver plating. The picture on the left is gold plated brembo blanks for a mazda, and the picture on the right is silver plated slotted rotors for a prelude.
Here is a write up on the KVR pads:
KVR brake pads feature a compound designed for aggressive street and autocross uses. These pads are comprised of a kevlar insulated semi-metallic compound with carbon-fibre weaves. This allows the brake pad to be very durable, have an increased friction coefficient, as well as high temperature stability. These pads feature an excellent initial bite, fade resistance, and pedal modulation, perfect for street and autocross use. KVR pads have a friction coefficient of 0.37 and normal/hot temperature ratings of EE. These are non-corrosive low dusting pads with good pad life under normal driving conditions. These pads are slightly louder than organic or ceramic OEM replacement pads, however this is a characteristic that is generally regarded as acceptable with performance brake pads.
To ensure proper performance and life, these pads must be broken in properly. This is done by allowing even pad material dispersion on the rotor contact surface. Make sure that rotors with a perfectly smooth contact area are being used. Once the pads are installed bring the vehicle up to 50km/h and slow down to 5km/h. Do this a total of 4 times with slightly increased pedal pressure each time. Do not come to a complete stop between runs. Once this is done 4 times, slowly come to a complete stop and shut the vehicle off, making sure that you are not holding the brake pedal. Let the rotors cool to the touch, and do not drive aggressively for approximately 500kms. During the break-in process it is normal to for the pads to give off a slight smell.

Oh and unfortunately there will be no group buy available for the front pads. The part number for the pads are M7573 and they are $55.00 including tax and as andy said, chris has them in stock. Because the price is already low, a further discount cannot be offered.

Hello everyone,
My apologies for arriving so late, during weekends I stay with my parents in Hamilton and have no internet, during the week I am in St. Catharines at school with internet
Thank you Ken for answering all the questions so well, and thank you all for your interest.
For some background information on cross-drilled/slotted/blank rotors, and to help you decide what is best for your application, here is a link:
http://www.stagefourmotorsports.com/techinfo/rotors.htm
Keep in mind that when I refer to 'blank' rotors, I am referring to top quality blank rotors such as Brembo rotors. For clarification, a blank rotor is an OEM equivalent in design.
Also while modified (drilled/slotted) rotors have less structural integrity than that of high quality blank rotors, for someone who is not buying them primarily FOR race use they will be fine. I have a set of non-plated KVR cross drilled rotors equipped on the protege and it has been on for over 70,000kms.
In this time it has been thru:
- 1 solo2 event (4 heats of 60 second laps)
- 1 solo1 event (25 laps on the dunville autodrome road course)
- 3 sets of brake pads
- have been resurfaced once
I have truly beaten these rotors and they refuse to die. Although seasoned racers and physics majors ensure me that the reduced mass decreases structural integrity, from experience I cannot say that they have treated me anything but great. On top of that, mine are severly rusted inside the vents and holes, because 3 years ago when I bought them they were over $300 dollars and I couldnt afford the plating!! and they still lasted.
For solo2 drivers and street drivers, there should be no problems...especially if they are plated. For street and occasional autox use, I would recommend slotted plated rotors and a slightly more aggressive pad compound. The slots will increase initial bite, the plating will inhibit corrosion, and if you chose to use new pads you would benefit also from an even better initial bite and modulation, as well as greatly increased fade resistance.
As a side note, pads do not necessarily need to be changed when changing the rotors, so you definitely can continue to use the same pads on there if you are happy with them. Just ensure you **DO** break in the new pads with the rotors. This needs to be done any time rotors are changed or resurfaced, and not many people do it. This allows the rotor to heat cycle and have a thin layer of pad material dispersed, to ensure even wear and heat retention characteristics. Lastly make sure you rinse your rotors with soap and water before you put them on. It sounds stupid but it is important as well, as from the factory they have a special coating on them for storage. This will ensure maximum life out of your rotors.
As for pads Hawk and EBC offer excellent street/race pads and more aggressive race oriented pads, and KVR also offers an excellent street/race pad, which i've also used many times with great results.
Part number for your cars are $M7573 and are $55.00
I think that is about all I had to say, and if anyone has any questions please let me know!
Oh and Telly, I am waiting for a response from KVR still as the EL rotors are a rare order, however I will get back to you ASAP. Once you make the order with the rest of the group buy people, I will give you the best price possible. Obviously i'll get the price to you before the GB order goes...lol
Since they are different rotors than the group buy rotors, the price will have to be higher than the group buy price, however I will give you a lower price than you will find anywhere, since you are buying them at the same time as the rest of the 7thgen team.

Hey Bro, I already spoke to Will and he is sure that the fronts are the same as ours (which was what i thought originally but wanted to make sure) so the only thing we have to hunt down are the rears for his Miss ELenor.
