In front of my house in Brampton. They slid something through the door opening, and broke my trunk opening button thing (i had it in the locked position).. they took a Kenwood MP3 X-869, 2 Channel amp Kenwood KAC-929, 4 Channel amp Kenwood KAC-849, and 2 10" Clarion subs in a box. If you guys see these products being sold on another board let me know. This is the third time I've been broken into, and I guess I'm done with modding this car. Thanks.
damn man that sucks... that ****'s starting to get me worried. I need to get an alarm asap.
should i report this to my insurance company? will the rates go up?
whoa thats f'ed up! where in brampton are you? i'm the heartlake area by the wal-mart. nobody can break into my car cuz i'm always awake at night until the sun comes up and i'm always going outside for a smoke so if anyone breaks into my car i've got a nice bat ready to break some skulls.

keep an eye out on www.torontostreetracing.com a few peoples stolen stuff has been seen sold on that website
thanks guys... i talked to an insurance company.. happened to be next door to the cop station (not my company though).. they said if you have comprehensive insurance they will cover it and it won't affect rates. last time this happened though i got store credit and they had to re-install the stuff.. i don't know if i want a system anymore.. i think i'm going back to stock.. like i said, this is the third time this has happened in 4 years.
dang bro sorry to hear that....but i' quite interested in how that's possible...what's strong and thin enough to break the plastic lock....damn
sorry to hear about that, happens to everyone at least once i guess.

CAR AUDIO/VIDEO THEFT PREVENTION 101
when you don't have access to garage parking and park your car outside overnight you should NOT buy a system, especially a deck. this also depends on where you live but thieves sometimes even scope out rich areas for goods so you can never be too careful. if your car exterior is modified, (eg. rims, bodykit, spoiler, etc.) this draws attention to your ride raising the chances of your car getting broken at some point.
even a cheap deck doesn't mean that thieves won't break into your ride, even if you take the face off. once thieves get a glimpse of your deck they automatically assume that you have an amp and subs. another thing that you shouldn't do is BLAST your system on your block or near where you live. this alerts would be thieves that you have a system and they will watch your car and parking routines and will eventually rob you. i would suggest that you turn down your system when you're within a few blocks of your home.
car alarms will protect your car to some extent but if a thief really wants your sh*t they will get it, alarm or not. the best thing to do to avoid the stress is DON'T BUY A SYSTEM and stick with the stock deck, that's the main reason why i haven't bought a system yet and probably never will.

Shiet..... So it's that easy to break into the trunk, even though it's locked from the inside?!
I always thought the trunk would be safe in the locked position.

you are quite right about not blasting your system in your area and avoiding parking at night, but theft is no reason not to get a system.
make sure you have comprehensive insurance and a car alarm.
How do you "disable" the rear trunk lock assembly? Cut/remove the cable?
Cuz my EL has both the latch (and latch lock), and remote trunk popping (from key fob)...
PK2K1, can you describe how the latch looks like now? I'd like to get an idea how the hell they mashed it and opened your trunk..... That really sucks

dude, sucks to hear you got your stuff stolen! but you're pretty lucky insurance is going to cover it. when i got broken in to i had my deck, subs, amp, and cds stolen. I was expecting to get about 1200 for everything...BUT, since it was all aftermarket they didn't cover anything but the CDs, which i got a whopping 120 something dollars for and the deck, which i got something like 250 for. after I paid my ded....i didn't get sh*t! now i have a stereo system umbrella though.

Good question... pop your trunk and look at the latch... you might be able to unhook the cable instead of cutting it.Originally Posted by FurBall

yep easily done, though once you disable that rear keyhole it makes that pull latch a little harder to pop for some reasonOriginally Posted by BIG
you can just unhook the cable...I had to when I swapped on the CF trunk
