Engine shampoo??
Do u guys and girls shampoo your engine bay?? If so why do u do it?? show purposes, cause I don't see any point in shampooing my engine. I've done engine shampoo's before, and its a piece of cake to do. $5.00 can of Engine degreaser, and a power washer = shiny engine bay
Who here has done it? and did u pay the $35 dollar average that most places charge?
I've thought about shampooing my engine, but I don't see any point to it, besides looks.

I would do it cuz it looks nicer.. also to get all the grime/dirt that builds up in areas out.. right now, some parts of the engine bay have white residue from salt.. so I'm gonna do it, I think its sensible

How they heck do you think people clean their engines then?Well .. upon reflection, *into* the engine, no .. but around the engine bay its not a problem.. But if you really want to hydrolock your car I guess you could shoot water into your engine through your air filter.
Though technically you should only be rinsing/spraying the area down - not high pressure washing it or drowning it/anything like that. Cleaning the engine is a simple task and there are plenty of DIY guides available for it (perhaps even ones that target 7thgens but its basically a universal cleaning process).
I clean it with Simple Green Automotive, rince, spray, wait 10 minutes and rinse off, that easy! Biodegradable, works perfect, doesn't affect or dry rubber hoses and smells good. Make sure you drive the car shortly after to dry it good. Keeping an engine clean also keeps it cooler.

I have never washed the underside of my hood before since I got my car till last night.. I washed it with regular automotive soap... The hood still had a bit of salt and dirt/mud caked on the bottom even after a good scrubbing.. that's what happens when you don't wash your car.. it bakes into the paint. :|
I degreased a lot of the engine last night with GUNK degreaser. My engine actually looks pretty damn clean right now. With the exception of the Power Steering reservior still has some black on it. Besides.. it's nice to give your engine a wash once in a while. I bet it protects from corrosion.

I do it just becuase i enjoy doing it. I love tinkering with my car hell I bet I could spent 5 - 8 hours just cleaning the car. Especially when drag night comes round. I just like cleaning the car.

Sorry Rob that was funny $hit

dude, I preasure washed my engine bay wth Freddy last spring. My car still runs
Hey, if you clean the interior and exterior, why not the engine bay? After all, the most important part of the car is under that hood.
I recently just did mine, I just used that $4.99 engine cleaner from Crappy Tire. Just spray, wait, rinse (follow the instructions on the back of the bottle)... just make sure to clean the exterior right after since you don't want any of that stuff on your paint.

Dealerships, ie... Honda mechanics consistantly use High Pressure water inside the engine bay, with no ill effects. Truth is just cover vital electricals (alternator) and spray your degreaser. Just be sure to wash the entire exterior afterwards.
There is no substitute

I used to be the parts guy for the garage at a CT, and the two guys who did most of the engine work (who are excellent by the way), told me it wasn't necessary to cover the alternator, just to make sure you don't spray (high pressure) the fuse box and air box/air filter.
I washed my engine bay last week, and I bagged my filter and fuse box. I have a pressure washer, and everything runs perfectly.

I just use Simple Green and a toilet brush for the stubborn areas. I use the high-pressure nozzle on the hose at my parents' house, never a pressure washer, mainly cause I have a lot of dielectric grease around the engine bay protecting the wiring for all my little toys, and I don't wanna knock that stuff off.
And I have to say, I kinda like the smell of Simple Green. Oh, and I don't bother covering anything, I just steer clear of the fuse box cover and the little plastic wire cover on top of the engine. The paint is peeling on those and I don't wanna make it worse, lol.
