Becareful when you go up....

be really careful when you go on the 400 North. Last week tody aprox. 12:30 am I was with my boy and his girl traveling on the 400 North on our way to Casino Rama for a nite of gaming...as we approach near Barrie; I was traveling in the fast lane...when this domestic pulls up behind me and starts tail-gating me. so i sped up to about 160Km....and pulled away. Then i pulled to the middle lane just to be nice so buddy in domestic ride could pass, instead the guy was still lurking in the fast lane doing the same speed....so i cut back to the fastlane doing a reasonable speed (120Km)..then you know what the guy starts tailing me again, so this time I did 180 to pull from him and left buddy in the dust. To my bigger supprise it was an OPP. the guy was teasing me for like 10 Mins. he pulled me over and gave me a ticket for doing 40 over the posted 100....and an unsafe lane change. The question here is I think he didn't have radar to flag me other wise I would of been booked for doing 80 over? so you people here think I have a good chance of fighting this ticket off or what?

im pretty sure cops tailgating you is just as reliant as a radar detector so you probably cant fight it with that excuse. on another note when im travelling in the fast lane at a reasonable speed (120-125 etc) and someone is tailgating me i always just slow down or tap the brakes to get him off my ***. i cant beleive you didnt catch on that it might be a cop? usually they're driving patterns can be detected.

make an appointment with the prosecutor... and tell them the story you just told us.....

tell the prosector that the cop that pulled you over was tailing you.. ) right up your ***.... (which at the time.. you didnt know it was a cop)and that you speed up and pulled to the middle lane so he can pass... when you noticed that he didnt pass you for a good 1km or 2km's or however long you were driving.... you decided to pull back to the PASSING lane to pass a car on the middle lane... and when you did that... that VERY SAME car tailed you right up your *** again.... and this time.. you speed up again to get away from him because you thought he was some lunatic.... and then you realized that, that lunatic was an officer... TAILING YOU FOR NO GOOD REASON.

if that reason doesnt work.. then hire a ticker fighter.
they have no right (i believe) to instigate you to speed.
you basically speed up to get away from a supposed lunatic who was tail gating you for a long long long while.

and like nme3 said.. you can usually detect which are cop cars... even if it's undercover.... if they look suspecious.. just slow down..

always look out for chevy's.. ford's... taxi looking type cars.. and pretty much all american cars.

thye can even look like ordinary couples in a car... or a group of four ppl.

this is unfair! first he's tailgating you ...literally getting you mad and then ticketing you!!
I think you should talk to the prosecutor first...you have a good chance at this as Im sure the cop will be pulling the same trick on others too and your story might reflect what others must have told the prosecutor abt the same cop.

smokedcivic has a little shameless behaviour in the past
i would say whta the hell i got scared so my first reaction was to speed away and tha's wat you did, you were keeping your self safe, now really a cop should not be tail gating you its really there bad, so i would fight it,
just say you thought this guy was following you and you thought he wanted to hurt you.

i think the cop was just being a *****!!! coz if the cop was gauging his speed then he should have stopped phillip's car when he was going 160 the first time. i could be wrong but that's my guess. and ya u should fight it man!! that 40 over the speed limt is like 3-4 demerit points i think plus you're a$$ is gonna get raped by the insurance.

he could tell how fast you're going if he's three to five car lengths behind you.
he doesnt have to be right up your ***...

they promote safety on NOT TO TAIL GATE!... and yet.. a f u c k ing cop does it... putting you in potential harm.... which can cause you to freak out... (not saying that you would...) but it's a possibility.

this is such a bull **** ticket also...

obviously... the person(cop) you were following......... was going at least 120km/h in a 90km/h zone.... he is not above the law... it appears that he didnt have his siren's on... so you were just going with the flow of the traffic...

Popkorn should not be trusted
In your story it says that you were driving in the fastlane and someone pulled up behind you. If you're driving in the fastlane and someone does that, you're supposed to switch over and let them pass. Not try to travel 180 to out run the guy behind, because if you do that, you're at fault for speeding.

I guess the cop saw that you were easily provoked and saw an easy chance to issue a speeding ticket.

that sux....I know I am at fault too for speeding. But remeber the stories in GTA of thugs impersonating cops/cruiser pullin people over and robbing them and their ride? maybe I can use that excuse in front of the judge. untill today I still haven't made up my mind of fighting it my self or hiring a tickect fighter. But now I know to take the bus at Pacific Mall to Casino Rama. It's not worth the mileage on the car and that 1/2 tank of gas

Since it's a ticket that involves demerit points.. If I were you, I would hire someone to represent me at the court. Unless you are practically sure of winning I would do it..

i dont think there's anything wrong by making an appointment with tha prosecutor.. and giving him/her your story... and if that doesnt work.. then you can hire a ticket fighter.... and hope the officer doesnt show up or he/she somehow screwed up on the write up report.

The cop screwed up the ticket...He said I was on hwy 400 doing 124 in a posted 90km/h zone...Where on the 400 is it 90??

Because I wasn't even on hwy 400, he got me on Hwy 11 where it is a 90km/h zone. I've got the ticket beat..no problem.

in one sense... you're happy b/c you know you have the worthless ticket beat, but in a second sense... it's gonna waste your god damn time.

But from what I heard, is that OPP especially the ones that attend to the newmarket court would always show up

well, there's still nothing wrong with making an appointment with the prosecutor and giving him/her your story first

secondly.... if the cop does show up.. hope your lawyer knows the prosecutor really well so possibly.. he can cut your lawyer a really really good deal.
or just hope he somehow screwed up on the write up report.

ticket fighters fight your ticket on what the officer writes on their report.. and they look for lil' errors that they may of written and they fight it against that.
if that doesnt work..... they just hope they know the prosecutor that is doing that case so he/she can cut you a good deal.

i agree with saint, they will usually lower the penalty at least...but if you can deal with the lowered penalty then hire a ticket fighter.

personally i dont like dealing with that kinda thing so i hire a ticket fighter....

theyve fought off 2 tickets for me already....so i still have a clean record...i dont regret a thing

i hired pointts
