Becareful When Racing.....

What a night................

I was out with my brother and a coupe of his friends, because they were adding some mods... as we were leaving, we sorta raced. Four of us, me in my '01 Civic, my bro in his '01 Celica, his friend in 98 Corolla and 97 Altima... the Corolla and the Celica was racing, and behind was me and the Altima. I saw my brother jam on his brakes, and at the corner of my eye I saw this furry thing moving.... he braked to avoid it. But the Altima didn't see it, and with a loud "CRACK!" the car ran over it. At first I thought it was a dog or something, because it was BIG. We pulled over, and whatever it was, it was moving around. At a closer look, it was a big fat racoon... it was still alive. The traffic behind us didn't slow down, so they kept running over it, but not with the tires... just over it. The Altima was pretty damaged; the underneath engine cover fell out and the front bumper cracked badly. I called the Animal Emergency line to get some help for the poor animal... and we got the hell out of there.

Becareful when you race everyone... you never know when or what is going to pop out in front of you. I'm just glad it was a racoon, and not someone's pet... or even worse, a child.

You could've hit a deer and that would've been everyone's ***...

1... 2... 3... why not keep it on the track?

If you're on a freeway, and you speed when it's dark, depending on the area (looks anything like a forest) - this is what's gonna happen to you. Wrong freeway. If there are animals on the road (or signs that say deer crossing) DON'T take your chances. I hit a deer @75MPH @ 3AM in my Civic when the 2-lane highway was deserted... hehe. But this is why the freeway isn't designed FOR racing. If I was going any faster I probably wouldn't even be here. Be careful? Indeed...

Oh yeah, if you're about to hit something on the freeway, the last thing you want to do is touch the brakes or try to avoid it when it's too late... just hit it! If you report it, tell them the animal came out of nowhere (so you're not at fault unless you want an insurance hike...) Pay the deductable, get your car fixed and repeat the night. Deer love Civics.

The first time I read about it on the forums, this guy hit a deer @ 90MPH!!! (That was the funniest thing... deer evidently killed.)

And then I hit a deer @75... laughed it off when I went to bed. It's dead of course. Deer are tough! That **** walked away!!!

Then in March, a guy hit a deer. I dunno if he killed it but I'm gettin hungry...

So I guess the score is:

Civics: 2
Deer: 3

I'm goin deer huntin to change that...

Hey,

Friendly racing will always occur on the streets, nobody is going to stop it. No matter how many die, if their not closely related to your situation, people are still going to do it. Its been going for MANY MANY years, and I personally hate it when its singled out to the import crowd, or in direct relation to the Fast and the Furious movie.

Just like how people will always drive when and after drinking, they know its bad but people are just irresponsible.

I agree with Ray. And humans have been sinning for ages no matter the consequence or judgement.

I'm going to agree with Edge and SugarRay on this one. Racing on a street is at the very least unlawful and does cost people their lives. Oh, and the "I didn't see any other cars on the road," is not an affirmative defense to street racing.

Damn.......

I didn't PURPOSELY ran over it. Nor was I going hyper speeds, we were still in our first gear.... I guess you wouldn't know how some animals behave unless you live in Canada. A week before this incident, on a pitch dark road, traveling at a posted 70km/h limit, I almost ran over a deer. It was VERY close, thank goodness for the sharp brakes on the 7th Gen Civics, otherwise I would've hit it.

As for racing on the streets, I'm guilty of it. But then again, so is everyone else on this fourm. I know you all have at least raced ONCE on the streets before.

dude, skylines and 350 z's aren't your typical nissans think "SENTRA GXE" or "ALTIMA 2.5 S" some guy at my school with a 00 GXE already screwed up his alternator, a/c and power windows. also some guy down my street with an 02 altima (not sure what kind) is already having funny sounds coming from his car, and he doesn't even have his plates yet! maybe it's just a lemon, who knows.

Hey man, I know all too well about what animals can be like up here in Canada. I live in the country so people are always hitting some animal. Deer, Moose, Racoons, Skunks, Cats, Dogs, Wolfs, Coyotes, Birds............... the list goes on. Be careful out there guys.
