Summer Rims and Tires

Who here is getting anxiety to put on their summer rims and tires on?

I am for sure. I can't stand taking corners so slow! Also my winter tires only have a Q speed rating.. so I'm only able to go 160 km/h (not saying I speed or anything)! I don't! Really!

I'm thinking late March as a date to put them on. How about you guys?

Late April for me. Don't want any salt eating away at the hyper silver finish on my wheels, better safe than sorry.

April fools day for me. I'm riding my stock 1.7EL rims with winter tires. Haven't bought my summer 17"s yet - still shopping around for the best price. Looking at Konig Heliums with Kumho rubber.

I ride on stock 02 LX Sport rims for my Michelin Arctic Alpins.

My summer tires are going on in March. I'm getting anxious. I'm thinking mid march because I remember last year I put them on like late February.. and suddenly in early March.. there was a HUGE snow storm and to top it off.. there was freezing rain after that. Remember that? It was an ice field out there.

My car was on summer tires and actually slid down my driveway to the street because the summer tires can't grip any snow at all I couldn't even move the car back up the driveway.. tires spinning and all. I had to change my tires on the road (back to Winter tires.. brought them back up from the moth ***** in the basement).

i remember that....
i had my firestones back on by then...

so sad, i actually had to bus out to toronto and leave my car in waterloo...
well, i'm sure it was a smarter move since the tires won't do me any good on ice!!

so i'm going to look towards april from now on...

OK, all of you admit it!

I open my closet and look at my rims every night, just waiting for the day I can pop them back on. Come on, I know some of you guys do too.

Would I sound like an obsessed freak if I admitted that I buff them with a little wax then add a layer of tire shine every week? Cause..um...hmmm...no way out of this one....hmm...

yeah, i remember that. i was just like you, putting my rims on too early and having no choice but to take them off the next day when the snow/ice hit. like an idiot repeatly hitting his head against the wall even after realizing how much it hurt the first time, i'll probably throw on my rims in early March, depending on how much of this snow we currently have on our driveways, melts.

i wouldn't worry too much about the salt. the salt has to bust through the clearcoat before it can touch the aluminum underneath and even then it can't actually damage your rims unless you let it sit for long periods of time without rinsing them. driving with rims on right now is FINE as long as you spray them to get the salt residue off once or twice a week. the only problem is if a snow storm starts all of a sudden, your low profile tires are pretty much useless especially if they're z-rated, which is the main reason why i don't have my rims on right now.

hey, i do that too, just not every night.

rims ain't cheap(at least not the good ones), and if you worked hard and bought them there's no reason why you shouldn't admire them.
