i know that tien ss is the best coilover and thats what i really want!!! i don't want to wait a year or two and save up for tiens. so what is the next best coilovers that you can get right for a decent price??? is ground controls any good or skunks?? and i dont want my car to be bouncy like most of the cars that's lowered. do you have to buy new struts if you just buy lowering springs??? pls help me out im confused of what to do

!!! If you want to lower, do it right the first time, otherwise you'll be bouncing like a ghetto ho at a cheap stripclub.
Remember that lowering a car has "hidden" costs, costs that people usually don't think/care about...
camber kits, new shocks, installation costs of all these parts, springs, etc...
The stock shocks are going to go real quick if you lower the car... Be it adjustable coilovers (which alot of people don't recommend, the salt in TO is killer), or springs (don't cut springs! Prices are afforable enough nowadays that no one cuts springs no more)
Teins are the best thing, but at around $1700-2200 a set, DAMN that's alot of money
That's the price you pay for a real job though.
I'm not sure if you need camber kits with the teins.......
At that price for teins, you could probably get some ghetto hydraulics/air ride
(I have no clue about price)
With regards to your question about new struts with new springs, so far there's only one so far... Koni's is it?! I can't remember. I do remember though that you have to butcher (cut apart) your front stock shocks for them to work though.... You don't HAVE to buy new shocks, you can ride and ride until the stock shocks blow, and keep riding on them. Just like Telly's phat ***
(He said he had blown rear shocks)... With blown shocks you can top out the shocks, and that'll cause stress/wear and tear on the rest of your suspension.
I recommend lowering with springs and nothing else, until your shocks blow. Then, once they do, get the camber kit, and get the aftermarket shocks. Because, even with coilovers, you'll need new shocks anyway. And coilovers can seize on you. (salt)
Then again, don't listen to me, since I'm running on stock Firestones and stock suspension

all depends on your preference of the size of the drop.
if you lower your car... usually, the honda stock shocks will blow faster then usual. my front shocks blew in like 9months since i got my car and my car aint even lowered.
koni's are your best bet for aftermarket shocks if you lower with springs or coilovers. but its required to use parts of the stock shocks with koni. if you dont really need the stock shocks in the future.. then it shouldnt be a problem
for me for ex. im planning on getting the tein's SS coilovers.. which is the coilover/shock combo already made together... which you probably know already.
i've just learned of a different product.. the KW's.... dont know the prices on those yet.. but prolly roughly around the same range as the Tein's SS coilovers.

imo: h&r springs and neuspeed sports springs are good... a nice clean drop imo.
as for regular coilovers: ground controls is one of the quality name brands out there.
i was somewhat in your position a long while ago.... id idnt bother dropping my car with regular springs 'cause i wanted the aftermarket shocks as well.... so jjust waited out to get Tien's... but it then ran out of stock in north america... i havent checked in a while.. but hopefully they have some in stock now. but i am also considering KW's as well now.
and i didnt want to get koni's 'cause at first.. i didtn want to destroy my stock shocks... but as of now, i dont really care no more... so h&r w/koni's combo is still one of my considerations.

H&R, as AznSaint said, is a good brand, and the stock shocks will last you for long enough to save for new ones. Thing is I have a huge box in my trunk plus I'm regularly pickin up fat hoes, so my rear end is saggified, and the rear shocks are gone.
I may go lower next year with something like the KW or Tein, but if not, I'm gonna grab the KYB AGX, which is a full strut assembly (no hackin ur stock shocks) but it's takin its sweet godd@mn time comin out....grrrrrr......

Ok... first off I think your confusing a full coilover system with just a coilover sleve.
The Tein SS are a full coilover system. This includes springs, sleeves, struts, and the ability to adjust the struts to your preference. This completely replaces your suspension system and yes you will need a camber kit with these. A system like this will run you $1500.
Ground Control and Skunk2's are not a full coilover system. All they come with are springs, and sleeves.... that's it. You retain your stock strut assembly and when you install these, you will also need a camber kit. These coilovers usually go for around $300-$600.

!!! right now im kinda leaning towards saving up for tiens. i think want ot do it right the first time like furball said and i want a good ride quality. but then again thats gonna be two more years before i lower my car

There's also B+G I heard they go lower than teins, there is KW but I think Pharoah said they're around the 2k mark. Is the cup kit out yet I have heard about pre-orders but not out yet?

I agree with doing it right the first time completely. I would try to get a set of KW's for your car. If you intend to drive it in the snow these won't rust as they're stainless steele. Not to mention fully adjustable and you can prop the car back up to it's OEM ride height in the winter time...
Tein SS are great, one of the best in fact. I don't like them as much as KW for the 7thGen but if you were to call them like my friend did they will ask you if you're going to drive the car in the winter...If you say yes, they'll probably advise you against them...

I've ridden on and installed these things in a 7thGen and they are out of this world...!

They're not cheap unfortunately but nothing good is. Like what has been said here..You're better to get the $$ for the good stuff and do it right the first time..

you cant go wrong with the KW set up, they are designed for cold weather climates and can handle the salt, but they do get pricey. if you want a good drop and one thats easy on the wallet pick the springs you like best, look in readers rides to see what drop looks best, personaly i think the eibach sportlines are nice, check out olskools ride she has them on, and get some new shocks. there are shocks that are a lot less expansive than the koni's that will do just as good a job. look into the KYB agx's they are adjustable and will run half the $$ koni's will. i have had my eibach's on for almost a year and my shocks are still fine (but i am getting new ones courtesy of honda soon) and the ride is great, just take your time and shop around and make the right decision.

I think JIC has a set of full coilovers coming out for our cars... this is the good ****. JIC is probably one of the best set of coilovers you can get but they are hella expenisve.
I am running Eibach Sportlines and I love'em. Sure the car bottoms out once in a while with the unexpected road construction that pops up before you know it but who cares... it's all worth it when you consider the airtime you get before that nasty CLUNK!!!
And then and only then do you look to make sure the springs haven't come flying out the top of the trunk. Lol.

I have the same set up with "1llmatic", it's not that low, and you should be fine with this set up during the winter too. I used to have a 93 civic hatch with H&R race (2.25 drop) and it was fine for any seasons.
i went with coilovers before... (they were crappy coilovers but still...)
now i'm on stock shocks, and Neuspeed Sport and I love the ride...
they drop is about 1.75.... but i think it's closer to 2 now...
I'd recommend those... and then wait for struts.... but the choice is up to u... if u want a set of Neuspeed springs for around $200 i'll refer you to a website...
