High-risk insurance

Hey guys, one of my friends crashed his car into another car twice in the last 3 years (not me, silly, I'm a 6-star driver, which means I drive like your granny). His insurance told him that they may not let him renew with them due to his "high-risk" classification. Anyone here have experience with finding a new company that will take someone with his status? Anything to look out for, besides the inevitable $$$$$$$$ he's gonna get raped out of? He just needs someone to insure his ***.

I'm not sure how it works in Canada (hey, I think I've been to Mississauga for a lacrosse tournament when I was younger), but I think an insurance agency can find a new company that will cover your friend. If not, try another agency. You might also want to look at something like Geico or Progressive online--but they are picky here and there (Progressive does not cover people in Massachusetts, I don't think).

As for the $$$, yeah, it'll be a lot. But if s/he can stay outta accidents for a year or two, it should go down. Good luck!

Its called Facility, they HAVE to insure him but he will pay for it .... Just ask a broker to sign him up if his old company doesn't renew him

Find a new broker, if you need help, PM me. My dad is currently insured with ING with a little life insurance (to compromise the high risk status). Mind you, its expensive, like 5K for a 2002 CR-V with 20 years of experience. Just 2 at fault accidents, no major or minor tickets. Remember to always wait while making a turn, how these morons leave their signals on indicating they will make a right into your street so you go out and bam... If you need a new front end just do this and not be at fault.

Yeah, 03Eclipse is right He better be, he works in insurance(??)

I've got 2 at faults and 1 not at fault in the past 6 yrs, and holy cow, with the insurance premiums I'm paying, I'm basically paying for a new car on the side....

Usually what you do is go to another broker, and they'll hook you up with ANOTHER company, even though they can't do it under their own company, and they get the commission.

I started with Pembridge who hooked me up with "ING HALIFAX" which caters to the Facility market, paying out the wazoo of about $6600/yr for my EL... Lately, when everyone's insurance skyrocketed up 20%, mines dropped like a rock to about $4000 I turned 25

If your friend has a buddy/family that lives in the middle of no where, change his home address to that I changed my address from downtown TO to Markham and saved 10%

This is correct, their are several larger companies that subscribe to Facility and have to take high risk drivers ..... A broker would be his bst bet, he can search the market for your friend
