anyone own a c230
Does yone in here own or has driven a mercedes c230 sedan. I'm looking at getting one. It has a 6 cyl. engine. My questions are:
1.How is the ride and comfort?
2.Does it have adequate power
3.Hows the acceleration
4.Any problems
5.Opinions on car?

c230's are 4cyl. engines. my mom owns a 98 with only 2.3 148 hrspwr. the 1999 c230 has a supercharged (kompressor) 2.3 with 185 hp. For 2000/2001/2002 they only made c240s and c320s that came with 6cyl. The new 2003 c230 are Supercharged 1.8 with 189 hp.
1. the ride is pretty good.. smooth. the comfort it also good but kinda stiff.
2. since this particlar 98 only has 148 hp it doesnt really have the adequate power that you would expect out of a 2.3 liter BENZ .
3. the accleration is ok but again its only 148 hp out of a 2.3 liter BENZ
4. ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS, the car has over 50,000 miles on it.
5. dont buy it just cuz its a BENZ, but if you do be sure to get either the 1999 c230 kompressor (supercharged) or 2003 compressor. if you you are actually lookin for the 6cyls styles they newer c240s or c320s are fine.
for extra info i suggest you research on yahoo or wut eva.

seems like a company called renntech makes some good stuff for this car. u can up the C230 compressor HP by almost 100 hp. but some of their upgrades are expensive.. like $14,000

My dad has a C240 fully loaded. It has a nice ride, acceleration is alright but not what you would expect from a $40K car (180 Hp or so). The ride is pretty smooth, almost no road noise until you hit about 110. The only problem I have with it is that the 6 disc CD changer is in the glovebox, and when the car shifts, it kind of jerks a little bit, my dad is going to get that checked out next time he gets the car serviced. Its a 2K2 with 7,100 miles on it so far, my dad only has to drive 10 miles total to get to work and get home from work so he doesnt put many miles on it (he bought it new). My dad should have gotten the C320 loaded instead of the C240, but he didnt do any research b4 hand, he just went to the Benz dealership, test drove the car and bought it. The 320 is the way to go, it has about 220 horsies, a lot more respectable for a Benz.
About the C230, if you are talking about the hatch then you are crazy, from everywhere I have heard that it is just a piece of sh#t, it has been reviewed as one of the worst Benz's ever made. The sedan isnt that bad but not nearly what you would expect from a Mercedes. The interior is really weak for a "luxury compact car," and the suspension is not even close to luxurious. But, to each his own.

my friend works for MB, he says you'd be surprised how crappy they really are. He said their repair shop was back-logged to the end of July, and that was 3 months ago

350hp can maybe give a m3 some competition
Nah, I got the love for the mercedes.
My family has 2 now, and has had 6 before this. Not one of them has ever had a problem.
The c230 sedan is an older model. The c240 replaced it.
When my dads was getting its service he got a c240 as a rental. He said it was very nice, and that it was very roomy. The interior is tight, and it has some pickup. Way more than the vic does
