I almost bought an evo 8
Only thing I think that sucks about the STI is that it has no radio. Thats a lot of humming and singing you have to do. And if you can't sing for shiet, you passengers are going to hate you.

i alsways wanted to get a really fast car like the STi or Evo or whatever, but lately i thought about it and it would probably get boring really fast. when u buy an STi, its already almost perfect and imo would be boring to own. but if u buy a car like a civic and work that up to 300 hp, now thats gonna be a lot more fun to drive then an STi. i'm sure there is a lot of stuff to do to a car like the STi, but i dunno, i think it would be a million times more fun to buy a civic fro liek 12 grand, put 15 grand into the engine rather then paying the same money for a car thats already fixed up to be big and bad.
First of all whoever is paying 615 a month for an evo needs to get there brain checked ...... Second, i know the EVO is slower in the quarter than the STI but I'm a big fan of WRC and all i can say is EVO hands down. I want a car thats not only fast but can handle itself when it snows( 4WD ANYONE ) or gets real bad around here, so IMO i'd love to own an EVO, we should all be so lucky !!!!!!!
FlyRiceRacer02 how can u say the sti is slower than the evo8 its been proven that the sti is faster on the track. and wrx are fugly..... negative check them out when they are lowered with some rims they look oh so sweet. but your opinion vs mine

from everything ive seen, the sti is slightly faster in the quarter, but the evo handles better and is better in almost every other way... thats according to many popular import mags. i think theyre close enough that you could make a decision based on manufacturer bias or because of looks, personally id go sti, ive seen many evos and no stis, although there could be a reason for that, lol
I drove my friends Evo a couple of times and it was awsome. The shifter is smooth and accurate and lets the driver know what gear he's in. Clutch is light and predictable. First time i drove it i hit the rev limiter in 1st because i didnt expect the rpms to shoot up that fast. All in all if you really want the car then get it... i'm not really into the whole drag racing and auto cross thing so there are better alternatives out there for the money (G35, IS300, Bimmer)
For some reason a dealer actually let me test drive an STi about a month ago and it is a great ride. If you think all WRX's are ugly, you are wrong on this one. This car is beautiful, especially in person. From the BBS wheels to the huge brembo brakes it is amazing. I wanted to take it home, but could not afford the payments. And it had so many features that made it great like the push-button intercooler spray and manual differential control. And you were right about it not coming with a stereo. You can buy one through Subaru but it is like an option. And this car stock is not even close to its full potential.
i would look around more... my father bought a 2000 yellow corvette Z06 Mint condition... 25,000 miles Mint! for bout... $36,000. he bought it in Texas during summer time. i know i love imports too, but for $36,000, 405 horsies... it would own all.
With just a Turbo Back exahust you are looking at 300 hp to the wheels on the STI. Go to this link and clikc on STI and go to the exhaust STI and EVO Remember boost on the STI is about 13-14psi. EVO is at 19psi.
2.5 liter > 2.0 liter
STI > EVO
imp:
2.5 liter > 2.0 liter
STI > EVO
imp: STI kick ***. they are both extremely kick *** cars. even tho i would rather get an STI. either one, just plain amazing. or lord. on a straight dead on 1/4 mile, STI would win barely. on a course of some sort, EVO would come out on top. in my opinion, the STI looks a tad beastlier. but wutever, sick cars. LOT BETTER THAN OUR HONDAS !!!!!!!!
Does everyone really want a Evo or a STI. I always wanted one but if it came down to it I would spend the money on another car. Probably a bimmer. I like to get attention but the attention one would get having a Evo or STI would be too much for me. I'm sure everyone at a red light would want to race you or want you to show off the power of the cars. I would worry about parking it in a parking lot. Also, you are not going to be able to use the full potential of the car in everyday driving. Not to mention the insurance.

Good Lord. . . I still can't believe people are wasting time debating which car is better. . . . EVO or STi.
STi:
2.5L flat-4 . . . larger displacement than EVO by 25%
TMIC . . . virtually NO TURBO LAG, vs. lots with the EVO. Although heatsoak can be an issue with the STi
Lower boost in STi stock. . . more potential for power with higher boost and engine management than EVO
Higher price than EVO . . . still worth it
No factory radio? Who really gives a flying ****? Most of us go aftermarket tunes, anyway. Less crap to tear out.
DCCD - lets you dial-in the power distribution for extreme conditions
No factory altezzas to replace.
Turbo cooling design does not require constant cool-down idle when shutting off engine
Peak boost achieved before EVO in powerband
Stock IC sprayer
EVO:
I4 engine. . . easier to access and do general maintenance on than flat-4
FMIC for better cooling. .. will support added boost without replacement. Costly front-end colision repairs
Factory stereo
lease:
Better stock front seats than STi
Lower price than STi
More nimble handling than the STi
Turbo rush once it kicks in. . . and it DOES kick
5 speed instead of STi's 6 speed. . . less shifting, if that's important to you
Optional sunroof. . . not available on STi
Here's what they BOTH have:
300HP
AWD
Brembo brakes
HIDs
Huge, yet functional rear spoilers
Forged aluminum rims and STICKY-*** tires
Four doors
Spartan interiors
Any real enthusiast will tell you that these two monsters are too close on paper to make a decision on which to buy. They MUST be driven to appreciate. Each reacts differently, and that is what must be addressed when trying to decide between them. It's all about personal preference, for the most part. Anyone who tells you otherwise is full of crap.
