The G35 and the R34 GTR Skyline are NOT the same thing. There are different trim levels for Skylines, with the GTR being the top sport model. This model line includes sedans and coupes. The G35 sedan is more or less the same as the Skyline sedan, nothing to do with the GTR except they share the name Skyline. The G35 coupe is basically a 2+2 version of the 350Z. If I'm correct, the 350Z and G35 sedan and coupe all share the FM platform that Nissan recently reveloped.

My opinion: The g35 here is the skyline in japan, just rebadged here. The one we have here is no the GT-R model, but i heard the are thinking of bring it over.

First: Infinity and Nissan are not partner companys. They are in fact the same company. Infinity does not exzist any where else but The US and maybe canada. Nither does Lexus or Acura. Theses front companies were created because the Us is so suck on status that no one would ever figure Honda/Toyota/Nissan as being Luxury Car manufactures. So their parent companys created them to allow them to enter in to the Luxury car Status.

Second: Yes, in the us the G35 Coupe is the skyline Non turbo/RWD. almost like a nutured GTS. weather or not they ever bring in a GTR or GTS remains to be seen.

g35 sedan and coupe share the same chassis, and the 350z is just a shoretend version.

ZZ has got it right. The current G35 coupe is like a R34 chassis GTS. I heard rumors that GT-R will be GT-R, going to be different from the other Skyline models. Skyline models start with a sedan, moves to coupes, then GT-R... we'll have to wait and see, R34 GT-R has only been out for a little over 4 years.

The R-34 is no more... Nissan had to pull it because the RB26 couldn't pass revised Japanese emissions. The standards also killed the Silvia and a few other sportscars for the same reason.
