Power outlet rant

Doesn't it seem stupid that the power outlet cuts off when you turn the ignition off? Like when you're charging your phone it you can't just leave it charging in the car. I'm prolly gonna run a new power outlet directly to the battery.

Not really.... this saves your battery from unnecessary wear.
My old Neon would never do this and the battery eventually died because I always kept my cell phone charger plugged in.

Well, not leave it in ALL the time, just when you need a charge. I don't think that would drain the battery...unless you have one of those old dinosaur phones.

Run the outlet direct to the batt, and put a switch on that bad boy.

i know some newer cars they have 2 power outlets, 1 constant and 1 turned on by ignition.. also some new cars have a smart chip (not really but im sure you get it) if the battery level is to low it will turn off anything unnessary to conserve the battery so the car will start.

Funky thing you can do is hook up a 12V power source to the outlet and the stereo will turn on.
I plug in my portable tire inflator and that happens.
