I am pretty sure you can not chip our cars. I think you have to send them out and have them reprogrammed. That is what I understood anyway.

Our ECUs are OBD-II, not I. The only ECU upgrade that I'm aware of is the JET ECU upgrade. However, this isn't a chip. You have to send JET your whole ECU, so they can program in accordance with the mods that you have.

Yep, OBD-II. A chip wouldn't work.

whoa easy, let's ease back and quit flexing our little internet muscles okay?

I got a question about the Jet Chip then, assuming we have many mods(which i don't b/c there is no point to polish a turd like our 7th gens)......how much of an increase in performance are we really looking at here?

What? With a chip? Well, let's say that that JET company decreases the VTEC engagament, they get rid of the speed limiter and rev limiter, they enrichen the fuel supply throughout the rmp range. That's pretty much all they can do. So for an EX I would think they could make an increase of up to 15hp. So 127 + 15 = 142 and for an LX 115 + 15 = 130. Plus instead of going only 115mph (in my LX) I could probably punch it all the way to 140mph. Plus I could rev higher, so that means I would be in a better rpm range from 1st to 5th when shifting at redline. You know, performance increase. I'm not sure if they change the VTEC engagement point? If they do, then you have a little better kick there too. Too complex to just give you a horsepower number. You have to read some more threads on this subject I think. I've only been glancing at some of them, so I don't know the details...

JET performance chip is good friend had it installed, i could notice a difference.

DO NOT PUT JET CHIP IN with forced induction(turbo,SC) or N20, it advances your timing and you will burn super lean (unless you upgrade fuel sys)

just making shure everyone knows, repost i know

I have my ECU chipped by JET PERFORMANCE. It took about 2/10ths of
a second off my 1/4 time and brought me up to 88.5 crossing the line.
Good power all through the powerband.

Will be getting rid of it now since I have a nitrous kit and JET advances
the ignition timing on the ecu upgrade by 5 degrees. This could
lead to possible detonation running N20

just my 2 cents

Click my link and you will see in the last pic the location of
the ECU behind the glove box...it's a pain to get to!

fyi, the jet chips dont remove the rev limiter and the governor. all it does is play with the timing a bit. advances the timing btw 3 to 5 degrees. i personally emailed the company and was really disappointed that it did NOT remove the rev limiter and governor. that sux a$$!!!!

IDQcivic should not be trusted
I'm surprised no one mentioned the venom 400... I've got that and it did about the same, knocked about 2/10ths of a second of quarter mile time, its easy to hook up, just 4 wires, connects to the TPS and MAP sensors and positive/negative of course for power. And you don't have to send the ECU back, just get the venom and install it... I'm thinking about selling mine if anyone is interested PM me....
