Rep Power: 0 Not just your average mechanic job
I've been doing a lot of thinking lately and I'm having thoughts about changing careers. I've been doing investments for middle class individuals, but it's just not really something I enjoy. I've always loved cars and have been fascinated with the inner-workings of them (especially the engine!) and I'm really leaning towards going to a school and learning how to work on cars, but I don't want to be some mechanic at Bob's Autoshop. If I am going to work on cars, I would be much more interested in working at a luxury or exotic car dealership like BMW, Mercedes, Audi, or Ford (JOKING! :laugh. I'm sure a mechanic at Mercedes even makes more than a mechanic at Honda or Dodge. Where should I go to get the training that would be needed to get my foot in the door at a quality automobile place like that? I'm going to be doing some searching on the net to get some ideas, but I'm curious if anyone here has any helpful advice.

Rep Power: 0 Wyotech is a decent automotvie school, this might be odd but look at the popular hot rodding site. They have thrown out remendations for automotive schools. I for one am going to college for mechanical engineering with an emphasis on car mechanics. That will get you a job more on the design and technical part of the car and not just the average automechanic but will get you job for being a mechanic as well, especially if you want to work for one of the better car companies but will need some hands on experince and not just a degree but they will like that you know more about how the car really works. That path is a four year minimum. There are lots of options for you, Good luck with it.

Rep Power: 0 Check out UTI (Universal technical institute) they have dealer training to go straight from school to BMW or Merc benz. or check out where i am going next fall Northwestern ohio they not only certify you to be a master mechanic in one year but then you can go on to high performance classes like custom engine building and racing suspentions and steering..... just a couple suggestions.
