they are trying to appeal to both types of car buyers... the people who buy cars for speed and looks(sportscar), and the people who buy cars for luxury and practicality(with a little bit of speed on the side)...

Z is a 2 seater.
The G35 has back seats I believe.
Z = sport.
G35 = luxury + sport.[hr]

Did you know the G35 is about 100 lbs heavier than the sedan version of itself? That's weird, though I'm sure there is a reason... it is a bit faster though...
Yeah, and it has the same exact engine as the 350z, but with 7 fewer horses.
I would get the z, because it has that awesome orange color, and I don't care much for the g35 dash, guess I got used to it from drooling over the sedan, but I can't blame anyone for buying that, it is still a cheap infiniti...
hjtek,
You are comparing the top of the line g35 to the base 350z. This thread is based on 350z vs g35. You can buy a g35 for the price I listed above. So yeah, do some homework.
You are comparing a carmel apple to an apple....close, but not the same

Hector
And another things only the G35 sports coupe has 275HP...the sedan is "only" 260... everyone else on the thread also thought that the comparison was between the two new coupes...G35 sports coupe ($29,645-$36,000 www.infiniti.com)

either way, i'd take the Z.
I would get both if I had the money. I think this is probably stemming from the market genius of Nissan's new CEO. Basically they're flooding the market with essentially the same chassis and same engine but with different variations of the refinement, suspensions and transmission... that should boost the resale value like a Honda because many parts would be interchangable between models therefore making maintenance very very inexpensive. It saves the company massive amounts of money by developing one universal chassis and engine instead of 2 or 3 different chassis' and 3 different engines... you can squeeze an extra 15 hp out through ECU tuning and/or exhaust tuning, and also gear ratios help out in that equation... I put my money on Nissan for the next 5 years or so to become really profitable. Now if only our Civics came with detuned K20A2's...

do you really believe the Z actually has 7 more hp? or is it simply a gimmick by nissan?

They have the same engine, but I think they have different exhaust and a few other things... They are definitely not st up the same way... But compared to my 115-hp motor, they probably feel about the same to me
