SRT-4 VS G35 coupe and Acura CL-S
http://forums.clubsi.com/showflat.ph...b=5&o=&fpart=1
I've been going mad from the lack of good races lately, but that all changed last night.
First race: vs. CL Type S.
Guy was flying up behind me in an Acura CL-S and caught me at the light. I looked over to his car and saw him slowly creeping on the red light. The guy was obviously one of those people who always has to be the first on ahead after the light. Well, he wasn't going to be at this one. The light changes green, and the moment he realizes I'm pacing him off the light, he punches it. I hit it at the same time while at the top of first. I immediately pull two cars ahead once boost kicks in. About a quarter of a mile ahread, someone pulls out of a residential street into my lane. The CL-S in still racing me. I hit 3rd and have to shut it down with a 2 car lead. I could tell his car was definitely an automatic from the smooth way it was shifting into gears.
The race of all races: vs. G35 Coupe 6-speed!
Just when I thought my stoplight race with the idiot was going to be the last race of the night, I was driving by the local rice meet, when I happened to line up with a brand-spanking-new G35 6-speed coupe. There were 2 guys in the G35 and it had dealer tags. We leave the first light together, and even though they saw my car, they don't try to punch it. I give it a little gas, and lunge forward to let him know he's not getting away without racing me. He hits the gas right before we get to the next light, and I know he wants to race.
Well, he take off, and for some reason he gets massive wheelspin. However, we are still together. Our cars are side by side all through first, but as soon as I hit second, he winds up and the end of my rear bumper. All the way throughout 2nd and 3rd neither of us moved. He would lunge forward for a second, like he was going to shoot forward, but he didn't.
We lined up again at the next light, and he rolled down his window.
Him: "Is that the new Neon?"
Me: "Yea, it's the new one."
Him: "How much horsepower does that thing have?"
Me: "About 220."
Another guy pulls up on my right at the light and starts asking questions, too.
Guy on the right: "Is that the new Turbo Neon?" "I saw the whole race, holy ****!"
Me: "Yup."
Guy on the right: "I saw the whole race, that car is fast!"
Me: "Yea, it's quicker than people think."
Anyways, while I'm talking to the guy on the right, the light had turned green, and the G35 has already punched it. I throw the car into first (hoping the clutch doesn't slip LOL) and notice that the G35 is spinning a little again, I immediately catch up. Same exact race as before; the minute I hit second I pull one car length, and we stay that way all the way up to 110mph.
We pull up again, and this time he tells me that his car is brand-new and only has 600 miles. Break-in apparently ownz him. He told me that he was giving it all he had, though. An old lady pulls up on the right this time, and starts lecturing us about street racing in broken English. ****ing stupid *** Miami people.
The G35 was the super faptapular model with the 6-speed, Brembo brakes and large wheels. It was loaded. I had an encounter with a 350Z on the freeway before, and I had serious trouble staying with him when we raced from a roll. I'm sure once the G35 is broken in, the next race will be a whole different story.

the type s gets a really good take off... you just have to turn off the tcs... because that option tells the car to slow down to get traction... i raced my friends vr6 with a ecu, headers, catback, short shifter, cai. and that little ****er jumped ahead of me so ****ing quick it wasn't funny... but at about 80-90 i started to catch up to him... if it was up to 120 mph we we be the same...
Congrats on the new car, man.
Honestly, I seriously pray that I don't run into an SRT-4 before my car goes into the shop in a couple of weeks. I have lucked out thus far, but with my car n/a, I fear it would definitely walk me.
I also pray I don't run into a new Evo. I got to drive one the other day, and that **** is FAST! I couldn't believe how quick off the line it was. 5-speed, too.

hah
Hope the engines don't blow...HAH..Doubtful..Chrysler has produced MORE turbocharged cars that ANY other manufacturer....They produced hundreds of thousands of them from 1984-1992....So...you'd have to seriously Fuxor the A/F towards the lean side in order to blow the motor..and *if* that happens, it's the owners dumbass fault for not knowing how to tune a turbo'd car...
***K Dodge
The SRT-4 are fast and have a lot of horsepower. But anyone that knows anything about Neons, knows that the engine is going to be the first one to blow. I know a guy who's dad works at the plant in Belvidere, IL and they have made no changes to the engine. 3 of my friends had a neon and the pistons were the first things to go. Then the gaskets started to go. So good luck with MOPAR.

yu0 = ****ing retard (or your dad). its a COMPLETLY DIFFERENT ENGINE, ASSHAT! Not only that it uses cast internals and a beefier built block. Please bite the buisness end of a 12 gauge.
Joe, don't you mean Forged rather than Cast? I thought all pistons were cast...Forged are stronger...
But yeah..your a dumbass guy... the SRT has a 2.4L, whereas normal Neons have 2.0L's....The Turbo'd 2.4 has been in existance since 98 I think....So, it's a proven motor...
And NO, the Neon Engines don't just blow up...LMAO...I've used this a thousand times before but...
My 91 shadow had 140k miles on it (at 14psi, intercooled)
My Neon has 75k on the original motor...and still spanks EX's with ease...
My 99 Civic, however, decided to eat a few rod bearings at 27,000 miles...Yeah...But I'm not going to be a moron and say that just because my Civic motor decided to feast on rod bearings, that ALL Honda motors are junk, because I know it isn't true...

is it? you would know better then I... although I was sure it was cast, but then again Im not the Neonguru.
Chrylers have a good track record with turbo'd motors? Okay if you say so. I don't know someone that had a turboed chrysler in the 80's that didn't have turbo go bad, a head go bad or something FUBAR. What other car has had the 2.4L turbo since 98? The only other one I can think of is the PT cruiser but that is only since last year.
duhh
Duhhh...
Well, first of all, the turbos, guy, were made by Garrett Air Resarch, and later by MITSUBISHI, so, you can't blame any turbo failure on Chrysler. Secondly, the turbos will last, IF taken care of correctly. This goes for ANY turbo'd car. If you don't do regular oil changes, and let the car idle after driving hard, before shutting it off. And as far as the Head goes, no....Some people have had head gasket problems, but once again, these are all maintanance issues, which are completley avoidable.
Do some reaserch guy. The 2.4L Turbo motor has been in the Stratus R/T in Mexico for quite some time now.

hey hondagurumya$$, i thought you had an si that you spent $600 on to get into the 13's, why would you get a pos neon that will max out in the 13's or die, maybe you like the VX1's???, those kick-a$$ seats??, maybe it was the well placed boost guage, or maybe dodge's overall track record for remarkable quality???, let us know when you start eating the coolant, oh, and have you figured out how an ecm works yet???....anyone can dump an engine like that into a car, only chrysler will actually sell it to you, hope you got a nice dealer, he's gonna be your new best buddy...now bring your bull$hit yapping.
