If I were to pick out of those two I would rather save my money
because
A I want both
B If I choose one I want the other

LOL so if I had that kind of money I wouldn't be able to decide unless I had money for both then I'll buy both

s2000man on this site ones a s2000, he said he run in the mid 13's....
High 13's... not mid. I've only seen 13.66 at best stock, but I've hit 13.7 twice, and can hit 13.8-14.1 on my better/average days. Yes, stock. It's a high 13 second car, because that's the potential it has for someone who can drive it.

Originally, the Fairlady-Z project was intended to be a performance car at a budget price. At the same time, Nissan also had the Skyline project. The Skyline was intended to be a supercar at a supercar price. Both divisions of the company hated eachother's guts, and rarely shared (if not) any secrets. Well it turns out the Fairlady-Z and the Skyline are very successful cars. The Z was one of the most popular cars in the states, as it appealed both performance wise, look wise, and price wise. Nissan did not feel that the Skyline would be a proper car to bring over to the states, as they had so much success with the Z that the philosophy of performance & price would do SO much better than performance AND a high price. Thus the Z's unmatchable popularity. Rumor has it that now the Fairlady and Skyline project finally got together and they were responsible for making the 350Z and the G35. Can anyone verify that the G35/350Z will be the new chassis base for the R35 Skyline? Does the US already have the Skyline, just not in it's 4WD turbocharged prowess?

I guess its my turn to put my .02 cents in now. BNR-32 thru BNR-34 "skyline's" came out as the performance vehicles. There were several models of each, same as the new Z. Some were geared towards being comfortable cars, others being bult as "track" ready vehicles. After the R-34 model, the direction of the Skyline turned towards the luxury crowd. (look at the current "skyline" basically the G35 sedan in the US.) Recently Nissan has been working on developing and remarketing a "GT-R" Skyline. This is supposed to be some sort of forced induction G35 Coupe, with a drastically redesigned body to resemble the GT-R heritage. (round isolated tail lights, aggresive front end) Currently the Skyline sits a shade below the FairladyZ as far as the "performance" vehicle of the crowd goes. True that several models available all come with a VQ35DE engine (maxima, Z, G35c, G35s in the US, others worldwide)

Its a misconception that ALL skylines are these monster track ready vehicles. The GT-R model is that vehicle. Thats like saying that ALL current mustangs perform the same (I know, weak reference, but easiest to understand) I would hope that the whole 350Z vs. S2000 subject is beaten to the ground by now, but unfortunately it seems that it hasnt been.

As a Z owner, let me say this and hopefully end this debate:

The S2000 is an amazing piece of machinery, amazing power output for a 4cyl. n/a engine. Being a "roadster" (stick shift, convertible, 2 seater) you simply cannot get more bang for your buck. It is just unfair to compare the 2 vehicles. They are NOT even the same class of vehicle.

The 350Z completely dominates the S2000 as far as a creature comfort vehicle goes, and provides so much more as a daily driver than the S2000 would ever dream of providing without ending up costing significantly more than a new 350Z which is another thing most people dont realize. The Z was built with economy in mind, and cut costs to make the car more affordable. Do I complain about my interior? HE!! NO, I love it. I think it could have been designed way better but for what IS there I am happy.

Do thoughts flow from your brain straight to your fingers without translating them into English sentence structure first? Just playing with ya.

I would get a Z, straight personal preference, although whenever I see the S2000 it makes me want to buy it too. So it would be a close call. Although, kinda in the same department is the BMW Z4, and I just love the body style. Style and Size, not Price department mind you.

The tallest owners of S2000's on s2ki.com are 6 feet and some inches. the car has a lot of room on the driver's side for being as small as it is. however, when you are wide, regardless of height, you won't fit so good.

I'm 6'5" tall. I can fit into a S2000 comfortably and with the top up.

Damn, you need to take some f*cking grammer lessons or something. At least post something that is somewhat readable instead of garbage like that.

S2000 is so peaky, it's so in consistant.. I've seen times vary from 5.4s to 7.4s.. seriously.

But in real life street racing, 350Z would kill the S2000.. I've a few S2000 with the LexusGS400, and beat them each and every time. Seems like the owners that bought them are not launch correctly.. and don't have to nerves to take it to 9,000RPM.

I have also dragged a 350Z.. twice, same driver.. first time I took off a little quicke and beat him.. second time I let him go quicker, but I couldn't close any gaps.

Beauty of displacement.. you can launch it easy, and still get respectable take off. Unlike S2000, which sling shots off the line much like a Civic.

Your post is filled with every sterotypical ricer thing to say about the S2000.

The S2000 isn't a peaky car, any more than any other honda. It makes a majority of its torque by 3000rpm, with a surge at 6000rpm. It actuallly has a very flat torque curve, and will HANDILY pull on a civic off the line. It slingshots nothing like a civic off the line. I've hit 2.0 60' times, and I don't see that happening in a stock FWD civic.

Even better, just because someone doesn't know how to drive the car, doesn't mean that it's the car's fault. I'm not sure what the big deal is, since I've hit 14 flat launching at 4500rpm. It's a pretty simple formula.... dump clutch at 5000rpm and floor it.... redline, shift, redline, shift, redline, shift. A person that runs a high 14 time in an S2k will likely run a high 14 time in a 350Z.... it's all about driver.

And no, the 350Z will not "kill" the S2000 in a street race. I've raced 3, and beaten 2 of them. I've also beaten every GS400 I've run as well.

Two sides to every coin, buddy.

s2kman nobody said a s2k wont beat a civic in just about every way, from what i heard the s2k has 2 personalities but when you punch it its a beast, same with the nsx only when you punch it in a nsx
