A good friend of mine bought a 2001 cavalier Z24 with 11K miles on it about a month ago for 11000. Last week he just had it supercharged with the new supercharger kit that GM just released. The only other moods he has are I/H/E and rims/tires. He took it to the track yesterday and ran a 14.49. I'd say that's pretty damn good for spending maybe 15 grand for a practically brand new car. And on top of that because the SC came from GM it doesn't void his warranty.

I believe him.

SCC printed an article on the new supercharger from GM for the 2.4 liter engine that was formerly used in the Sunfire and Z24 Cavaliers. It took the car to the strip and ran 15.0 with the only mod being the SC.

September '02 SCC pg. 168

"At the Caliofornia Speedway dragstrip, which sits about 1100 ft. above sea level, the Sunfire, on a nice cool May morning, ran from 0-30 mph in 2.7 seconds, from 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds and through the quarter mile in an impressive 15.0 seconds at 92.7 mph."

so you quote things before you read what youre quoting? come on joe, being the car expert, i would expect more from you than calling him out, and then saying, whoops missed that part of it.

That's not too shabby. I don't dislike the Z24's at all, they have potential. But I prefer my civic because the gas mileage is worlds better than any Cavalier. I'm not much of a performance buff or anything, and gas mileage means alot to me right now. I just don't ever anticipate a GM or other domestic to run as well at higher mileage like the majority of Hondas do. And I think its too much of a risk with my money to see if a gm would last......i'd have to baby it anyway, those things hate being revved all the time.
