I know the practability of a 4 door. I may have said it the way You stated. If i did my bad. And to Noodleboy... You live in Canada. I do own you. Not one retort you made had any umph. you don't need the when! It isn't neccessary. You know what i am talking a-Boot (canadian for about). Hosier! do you know what is going to happen to Canada when the US runs out of natural resources?.... Knock Knock, Oh Canada.... Get a life and quit instigating a debate between 2 men. It would have gone a lot smoother and quicker between me and Mbow if you would have just kept your Mouth shut.[hr]

Well if you claim to be so mature, then you wouldn't turn a little flame war into a political issue. If you and me were on a plane with a terrorist - who do you think they'll take hostage? Hrm? Who gets their buildings blown apart? Who gets a "middle eastern decent" sniper rampaging your "oh so powerful city Washington DC"? Hrm? And when the US runs out of natural resources, you think we'll just give it to you? I don't think so. We'll be charging you an arm and 2 legs. Canadians may say "eh" as in "Nice day eh?" - well, that's a whole lot better than American's saying "It's a nice day HUH?" A degree in arts? To be admitted into arts into ANY university has almost the lowest requirements for GPA standings. 76% here whereas science is 80%. But this is all blowing out of proportion.

how is this political. I never said anything about your socialistic government, did I. NO! and if we are on a plane and a terrorist took hostages who do you think will cowar in fear? HMMMM? And yes we get picked on here in the US becuase we are the most powerful army in the country (not biggest). We also have FREEDOM. And some people like having there lives dictated for them. Well we can't please everyone.

The only reason why you all are nutreul up there in canada. is becuase NO one knows about you. What are canadians any way. the east is french but hate the french and speak a weird dialect of french. Where did vancouver come from? We are everyone. The US is the entire world in a tiny area, all with different religions, races, and creeds. Of course we are going to be attacked. Eh is just as bad a huh. And who the hell says huh!! Ebonics is not the american dialect either so don't even try saying that.

Low test scores to be an artist. tell that to M.C. Eshier. Mathematical Genious! Tell that to De Vinci. I could go on and on. Even though most artist don't test well, they are usually of genious. I am not saying I am a genious.

So in closing and ending this stupid lil debate. SHUT UP!!!! I was already done with this damn thread and you had to come back. STOOOOOOOP Already. Peace out C

I dont have any problems with '03 Corolla's, stick or manual, stock or not (but only I/E out for them at the moment). Think of it as a Celica GT with 10 less horsepower and about 200 more pounds. If you can launch your car it should be no problem, the auto 'rollas run 16.5++ in the 1/4.

Yes, Joe, they are both slow. But slow cars can be fun too, if it's your car and you like it who gives a sh !t. I went from a 96 Z28 with a Vortech SC running 12# of boost, and I have fun with my slow a$$ ex still

BTW: C&D said the S runs a 16.2, that is not hauling ***. I run a 15.7 and I can still feel the slowness.

Looks like someone got a little butthurt there.

KACKASS, my point was to state the ridiculous goings on in this thread.

"Oh my civic is faster... by .0020 10ths of a second!"

Pffffffff... Please. It’s pointless and moronic to have a 70+ posts thread about this.

BTW, im SO scared of your (read: daddy's) Lexus. It must be SO fast, I mean since you are talking so much shiet and all, it must run what? 12s? 11s?

Keep your inane threats to your own dumb ***, I don’t want to hear it.

BTW, if you really want to race some "fast" vehicles like your parent's touched by god Lexus (coughcoughsarcasmcough), ill be happy to bring my completly stock CBR to beat your *** raw, mmmkay? now shut your hole.

No, why would i bother re-reading the original post?

USUALLY people dont edit the 1st post in a 70+ reply thread to introduce new information like 3 days after the fact.

Hey....if lexus aren't really that fast for the money...I would have to say that civics are super slow for the money. I mean come on...you civic drivers get dusted by cheaper corollas and elantras so...I really wouldn't talk about all that. Why do you think there are so many jokes about civics-rice-stickers? Civics are very reliable and they are very quick with engine transplants but with 1.6 SOHC or the new 1.7? It's a joke.

The point is, Lexi arnt race cars. Nor are they "fast" by any standards. If I were to get a "fast" luxury car it would HAVE to be an M3 or something of the like such as an Audi S4.

MY point is that his dads luxo boat is still, comparatively speaking, SLOW. And unless hes got some work done to it it’s not running anywhere near high 13s in the 1/4 mile, and therefore won’t keep up with my "slow" 1.6l civic, let alone my CBR which runs 11s stock out of the box.

You also forget, were not talking about an economy model 7th gen civic. I bought my car for 16,500. Ran 15.2 stock. Id say, comparatively speaking, my car is as quick if not quicker then the average "sport compact car" out on the market today. This includes everything from the SER Spec V to the RSX-S. and when price is factored in, it actually comes out on top.

Those terms are all relative.

If you're comparing lets say 2000 civic vs 2000 corolla.? yes the civics suspension is way way better. The braking is much better in civic as well. How do I know? I've owned both. The corolla is much quicker and even better on gas but when it comes to taking corners and stopping?...yeah..civic rules.

As for 2003 models? Drive it and you'll see. The corolla has slight edge over the civic in ride, handling and braking.

Yeah..I'm sure that you're CBR is like a lightning .....gotta love bikes.
but an M3 is not a fast "LUXURY " car........it's fast but it has relatively crude ride and higher than "LUXURY" level of noise. A fast luxury car would be GS400, 540i etc.....sporty but has way more luxury than sporty.

I'm not really sure but I think a car that does mid 14s in 1/4mile from the factory with a auto tranny is classified as FAST to me. Many publications and readers go nuts over the new infiniti g35 and it's performance which does high 14 to low 15s doesn't even come close to the gs400 or the 540i.

i dont consider anyting that runs over 13.0 "fast"

also, the M3 is classified as a sports luxary car, yes, and when was the last time you were in a NEW one? you wouldnt be complaining about ride harshness or interior noise if you drove in one.

but i digress. if you want to get **** about the difinition of "luxary" car;
A) few lexus meet that definition
and
B) take the M5 instead for my example.

Hi,

I'm a new member from Thailand, both of these are cars are available here as well. I personally drive a civic 2001 vti, which should be equivalent to the ex version in the US (most expensive version). 1.7 sohv vtec, producing 130hp or 96 kw, and a torque of 155 nm or 15.8 km (Thailand spec). A prominent magazine here have done a very fair test involving both Corolla 1.8 vvti Auto (same engine and specs as in the US)and a civic 1.7 sohc vtec Auto test or race here, due to popular demand as well. (There were no stick test because the corolla 1.8 is only offered in auto here). Corolla here always weights abit more than the civic. I'll try to dig out the test chart if I can find it. Roughly, here it goes :
From start 0-100 km or 0-60 mph, Civic is abit faster than Corolla, Civic runs in at about 11.51 seconds while Corolla followed at 12.01, 1/4 mile, Civic is still abit faster at 18.6 while Corolla is catching up behind the neck at 18.9, top speed, Civic sedan Auto was able to go up to 192 km/h while Corolla Auto was able to achieve 188. (We did have a road test on the civic 1.7 sohc vtec Stick, it was able to go to a maximum speed of 204-205 km/h, no mods all standard.) Up from 160 is very very slow for both car, well they both are not fast car but fun to drive. Civic has an edge in the corners. However, if both cars were to meet on the road at 80 km/h, Corolla would get abit faster or ahead in achieving 120 km/h due its more powerful torque. In all, its a pretty close match, civic just have a slight edge due to its overall weight, gear and probably abit to Vtec.
Have fun folks. (Test condition may vary due to different country and climate ). The corolla came with a standard 195-60-15 rims while Civic is equipped with a standard 185-65-15. No mods have been done to both cars, both cars were fueled up to its maximum. Pls. read carefully, all speeds are in kilometers not miles.

yeah...well...14sec is plenty fast for me and probably for the 90%of people on this thread. Also,,most of us here well never even come close to 14's or 13's ever...so I think that 14 is plenty fast .

I also don't speak up about cars if I've never been into one. I don't know if you've ever been into an M3 but I have. My old friend just bought the 330xi and we went for a drive in the new M3 as well. To me,,the 330 and the M3 are more sport than luxury. Why? It was very noisy and the suspension was set up very sporty( as you already may know) The noise level believe it or not is much higher than a Camry or Accord as well.

Also, when the pros test the cars, the M3's main competitions are Supras, SVT Stangs, Maseratis etc...these are to me.....pure sports cars with touch of luxury to justify their price. Trust me..the M3 is a wonderful car but it aint no luxury!! maybe little!!

woot.. i was suprised that it was pretty even....
i told him going into it... best 2 out of 3.... so when he got a win i was like .... .right... it wasnt by much... but i think he dropped it into second or something...
but i have to admit the corolla auto is pretty quick(for an auto) if he woulda had a stick it woulda been a different story....

Hi,

I was wondering how fast does a normal stock civic 1.7 sohc vtec auto run from 0-100 km/h ? The magazine used an electronic machine which I forgot what it was callled, attached to the wheel or body of the car when conducting the test so this is not a human stop watch test, purely electronics. Honest opinions pls. ?
