I knew about the 1.5 liter with 3 stage VTEC. but what i'm interested is what 1.6 they threw in that car. because i want to swap it. haha. well assuming it's a b16 (or something affordable) i want to do the swap now. hmm, maybe i should email UAE honda.

Assuming it's the B16 What's to say it isn't a foreign motor that we just don't get? Click the type R link... You will notice it specifically says 'DOHC' Which the SiR does not specifically say. The others are powered with 1.5L 110 HP engines... I doubt any of the engines (CTR K20A2 excluded) are the same as the US market engines.
EDIT: With hard proof, I will retract my previous statement. I just converted the metric numbers. 150 Nm torque translates to 110.69 ft-lb... which is the exact number that the 2000 Si puts out. And as we all know, that's a B16. So now the question... How do we get proof that it is in fact the golden B16 motor? Who speaks Arabic? Someone call them up!

Looks like the engine is the same on the 99-00 civic Si coupe. That would be nice.
we do have a b16 engine in our civics.. it wuz put at the last version of our 6th gen, a DOHC engine producing 160hp
oh.. and it's a sedan, too bad we don't have hatchbacks here

I'll admit, I'm not the most knowledgable when it comes to engine swaps, but all I read on tis site is how the b16 wont fit, or we cant put it in. Does this mean that we apparantly can or is it that the sedans between the 2 countries are so different that we wouldnt be able to do it anyway? I'm sure you're all trying to figure this out and that's why everyone is now dumbfounded, but I guess I just hope you smarter people figure it out, so dumb people like me can know what to do. =)

To find out if it's swapable, we're going to first have to find out if it is infact a B16. We still don't know that for sure. It could be a K16 or something that we just don't have and never had here. The we're going to have to see a picture of what it looks like under the hood. To see how it all fits. Blueprints or a computer model would really help, but those are doubtful. We'd need to find out how everything lays out in then engine bay, what is in the same place and what isn't. I don't think they would design too many iterations across the world platform. It seems that it's basically the same car, with different engines to conform to the laws in different regions. So it may be possible that this is some kind of DOHC engine that can bolt into our stock mouting positions or very close to them. Once someone can confirm its identity and how it will fit under the hood of the 7th gen, it may be a matter of getting it and bolting it in, or it may be a total conversion that just isn't worth it. It would help to know if the car in this form is available in another country, or if someone on here knows someone in the UAE or can at least speak enough Arabic to call Honda UAE and get an answer. We do have the benefit that the B series rotates in the same direction as the D, rather than opposite like the K. There are still too many unknowns....
Well it sounds like Royce is from the UAE, so he'd be the best bet of trying to get some info. Hook it up Royce. =) Isnt Dubai in UAE? My dad might actually go sometime for business...he says you can buy and sell anything there because it's one of the most unrestrictive ports in the world. I wanna go and buy cheap electronics....mebbe pick up an engine while I'm there.

It's your everyday run of the Mill B16A2 .....yes they fit.....no it's not an overly hard swap.. it's harder to fit a H22a into a 4th gen hatch..but many have done it.. It requires fabricating new mounts and bungloads of re-wiring...Same from swapping a B18 into a 4th gen.. the engines do fit... a few guys in Asia have swapped B18's in allready.....any decent shop can do the swap and make you the mounts for about $2500 in labor. But you'd need the engine, ECU, Transmission, custom made drive shafts and the fabricated mounts....I've been learning a helluva lot lately about swaps and such..and they are not that complicated...mostly it's the wiring that's the hard part.. the mounts and such are just time consuming..but very straight forward.... it took some old mechanics 22 hours to drop a 454 into a chevette and have it fully functioning...not that's a swap for the wrong drive engine..which is too big for the car and will never fit made possible.... nothing beats a gas powered cutting wheel and a good tig welding machine....
I have no idea what engine that's in this car but 1.6 VTEC engines for the 7th generation Civics seems to be D16V2, D16W8 and D16W7
Anybody know for sure what all the codes are for this generation? This is what I know of:
VTEC: D17A5, D17A4, D17A2, D16V2, D16W8, D16W7, D15Y4
Non VTEC: D17A3, D17A1, D17Z1, D15Y6, D15Y5, D15Y3, D15Y2, D14Z5

Element, you were right. the car is just a 6th gen
.
anyhow, here's a PM i got back from someone that lives in the area...
"by the way the car is a 2000 model but they still have the car in stock....they arent sold in a big quintity like in the US, to be truthful they are made in Canada or US (not sure)...thats the ones we have and they sold in a very high price!
well here are the specs i know they are the same as a USDM version.....if you are from the US you can get them from your country since you are right and are cheaper where you live...hehehe....anyway ....it uses the B16A2 that has a 10.2:1 head compression, 160hp@7600 RPM, 1595cc which is tolerated to 1.6L, 81 mm bore, 77.4 mm stroke, has VTEC and uses OBD II , i hate OBD II it stops poeple from modifying their cars (not crakced yet if you wanna know), so if i were you i would convert the OBD II to OBD I with the help of Hondata and buying a OBD I ECU, check www.hondata.com .
