where does it say anything about every 7th gen civic ever made? I dont make blanket statements.
hey joe i have to admit u have gotten alot better with not shooting peopel as much. and who cares about what joe says the pic is funny. and even that he found just makes me wonder where in the hell he finds all of this stuff.
I agree with that picture...."it's funny cause it's true"...like it was said...this generation civic, has it's ups and downs....but just WAY to many downs...and the worst...it's SLOW!! don't respond good to mods, that ANNOYING rattle on the back that all of us has gotten a way to prevent it but it's still annoying for your car to have come with something so BAD, McPhearson front strut bar....small engine bay!! restrictive cat, puny WEAK D17 engine, you name it...
probably the only good thing on the car is the good milage and that in SOME angles it looks good... basicly...the worst civic ever made...and I don't see Honda fixing it's problem every new year...just changing some stupid headlights and its dumb interior...
the civic is no longer for car enthusiast....it's for old ladies in my opinion...
or just for show...which is just senseless in my opinion

I don't intend to offense anyone, if I did, I'm sorry, but that's my opinion on our car...I bought because of it's previews reputation that I thought it would be something else but it has not lived to my demands, I waited 2 years basicly for big aftermarket support and all we've come to is to rely on WEIRD product like extending your throttle body or electric supercharger and all that BS to see if we can gain more than the usual 5HP after expending about $1500 worth of mods...the civic is a good car...but not good enough for me...I still love Honda and it's cars; for me...Honda will never be less than Toyota, Mazda or those POS Ford...but I guess...Honda made a mistake with this one...nobody's perfect...

I told you guys before. Honda hasn't exactly done much with 7th Gen Civics, compared to 6th Gens. Pretty much same power. Little space increase. A little worse in handling. Clean up the design. Presto! Best seller again. Why? Because it's a Honda Civic. I'm betting 80% of people on here bought their car purely based on the fact that it's a Honda Civic. They gave no consideration to other cars.
I'm not blaming you. Honda Civic has a great legacy. Best sub-compact (well, now compact) car in North America. Period. Right?
Wrong.
------
In 2001, on the release year, it was probably the best in the class. Roomiest for sure. 5-star crash protection. It had some flaws, but nobody knew about it. Everybody expects Honda Civics to be bullet-proof. But it had some minor issues........ reliability.. viberation in rain.. rattles.. poor shock damping.. whatever. They'll fix it in 2002, right?
Wrong. They did squat. Why? Sales were good, that's why.
2003 came rolling along. Toyota has unleased the new Corolla. But it's no longer for geeks & geezers only. It's quicker and more nimble than the Civic. Better quality AND reliability. Quieter, and more solid.
What does Honda do in retaliation? They offer you new gauge cluster and a cup holder lid. Are you f-ucking kidding me?? New gauge cluster and a flip lid for the cup holder??? Hey, f-uck that. The rattles? They are STILL there.
How does it all play out? It'll still sell. Like hot cakes. But this being half of the bread & better (the other half: Accord), it could very well tarnish the company's image in the long haul. They really need to get their acts together.

Heh. I left my p[revious post...it seems to be more of a stand alone statement. Anyway, I'm happy with my civic. and I dunno where you get off complaining about rattles....rattles happen, ESPECIALLY WHEN PEOPLE START PULLING SH|T APART!!! "I just installed my new 6x9's and now my car raddles. This sucks!" Yeah because you pulled things apart...not new anymore, been tampered with the perfection, I say that loosely, is gone.
Hell there are rattles in Porche's! In BMW's! They aren't avoidable. Think of cars as ytou would a home...all homes have their creeks and noises, well so do cars. And for 15 grand versus 40 grand for a better car I'm not complaining! Only thing I don;t like is the shades of silver on my car...that does bug me.....

You can't really compare the 2003 Corrola and the 7th Gen Civic in some aspects. When you buy a new Civic, it's not gonna rattle when you drive it off the lot. People are still doing that to the Corrola while the Civic has been out since 2k1. How do you know that when the year 2003 arrives, the Corrola isn't gonna have the same or a similar issue like interior rattles? That car is still a baby.

It's Car and Driver, what can you expect?
That test makes no sense. They rate the Civic powertrain at the top, but theres a couple of rattles and they can it. They ought to have more weight on the mechanical categories than they do on the interior crap. People buy econoboxes for reliability, gas milage, and a comfy seat. Anything else you get is a bonus.

I found it funny that the Corolla's are faster than Civics. I can already imagine the Civic ricing racers shocked to see their Civics with their intakes and coffee can exhausts getting ripped to shreds by a stock LE. I can already see those threads coming

People....... if Honda Civic got #1 on C&D, you would praise that magazine, and you woulnd't doubt any of it's criticism.
As for the rattles--I am not complaing about the 2001 models, or cars with body panels removed. The 2003 Civics STILL rattle, when driven off the lot. Read the article. The rattles have been a consistant complaint by a lot of people ever since 7th Gen introduced. You guys should be saying that Honda needs to fix this problem, and not make excuses for it.
It's supposed to be the f-ucking benchmark, not a Kia.

"Actually the flip up cup holder came with the 02 models."
not. it was a dealer option for my 2000 Si.

And it's Car and Driver we're talking about. This particular publication, aka Car and Honda, is known for bias Honda products. They praise almost anything with the H logo in the past even though the competition are superior. So if they're saying it's bad it's gotta be really bad...I read the article and I agreed with what they said about the Civic. If their test car has the same problem as I once did with mine I'm sure they'll rank it dead last.

Actually you might want to reword that statement. Toyota's reliability has been rated higher than honda for quite some time now.
