F1 talk - how to fix?
F1 is becoming a farse...
it's so freaking boring, and the TV coverage doesnt show much other than Ferrari... not to mention there are hardly any overtake attempts..
they need more aggressive drivers with ***** like Paul Tracy and Dematta...
anything remotely exciting has been between Maclaren drivers and BMW drivers.
i'm hoping Mclaren kick *** earlier in the season with stronger Benz engine, spread the points, and BMW take over after Mclaren drops off the radar with the new car, and give Ferrari a run of the money.... and hopefully BAR Honda will be better next year... now that honda is committed to BAR and has been giving them much more powerful engine [and one of the fastest], BAR is just a good aerodynamics designer away from competing with the big boys. ]
and get rid of the grooved tires!!!

it's those stupid FIA rules...they're getting every year more picky about everything... Ferrari is just way to strong a team now, since they're like 110% commited solely towards F1 and Michael Schumacher...
I do have high hopes for next year...mostly with William's BMW, with their new engine they tested on Monza, were Montoya broke a 17 year old lap record, hope next year they get the chassis nicely done to suit their strong engines, also BAR with also 100% Honda support, and I would really like for Toyota to actually race next year instead of researching...would be nice...
this year F1 season was fine...not as well as before, but I do have to admit...Ferrari developement is just outstanding, it's not their fault the other teams couldn't keep up...just hope maybe next year they'll ease up a little...

well, I dont blame the other team.. Ferrari's budget is close to 260 million... while the Manardi is 45 million..
If Ferrari allowed its drivers to race against each other, it wouldnt have been as bad... I say FIA find a way to put the son of the legend [Villeneuve] in their Ferrari next to Shumacher... that would be something to watch.

yes I totally agree, that's mainly the problem...Ferrari is a multimillion company, and it's only worry is...F1 and production of exocit cars...they can spend all the money they want...while for example, williams...Frank Williams doesn't have such a big budget and he needs to keep everything good with the sponsors contracts...it's too tough for the other teams to catch up...when I said it wasn't Ferrari's fault the other teams couldn't keep up to them I meant...they won't stop their evolution in F1 'cause of other teams budget...in the end, it's a race, and you do what you most do to keep ahead from the bunch
well, Ferrari's business picked up exponentially after Ferrari took the title 3 years ago.
Ferrari F1 title = more cars out of the showroom for Ferrari
obviously they want to secure the championship title, I dont blame them, but why not let the drivers decide? Schumacher would have won anyway, if the two went at each other. The best F1 moment for me was at SPA? or Germany GP? [forgot] when Montoya and R. Shumacher jumped past the Ferraris out of the starting line and blocked the straightaway driving side by side, effectively cutting Schumi off and battled each other to the point where R.Schumacher had to go through the chicane... that was real racing, not this 'after you, sir' crap put on display by Ferrari. haha
There are reasons why Nascar has soared in popularity, and CART as well [before the split]. CART still is massively popular overseas, a rare chance for people to see competitive open wheel racing.
Bernie Ecclestone killed CART for that reason.. [forcing that INDY 500 owner to split into IRL and later have F1 race at the venue]
and if they want F1 to be popular in US, they need an American driver who can win...

The way to make F1 interesting again is to level the playing field. Do something like NASCAR where all the cars have to essentially be equal, and it's he who drives with the best stradegy and luck that wins. But that really defeats the purpose of the whole thing. What is really going to have to happen is someone is going to have to pump some money into another team and get them to be a worthy challenger of Ferrari. Basically Ferrari makes no Profit on road cars because all the money they make goes straight into the racing program. But no one else has the ability to focus funding like that. Honda can't do it, toyota can't do it, niether can Mercedes Benz or Renault... They have too many other programs to fund. Ferrari on the other hand, builds 4 car models, and all are based on F1 R&D. So they really save themselves the trouble of doing research twice. When it's time for a new road car, all they have to do is apply what they know to a road car design, test their theories and build it. The one engine rule for next year, would have done something to level the field, unfortunately the rule got killed, and Ferrari also has the highest reliability rate in the circuit. Just face it, they're that damn good, and with Schumi driving, it makes a good car, that much better.
