What's the bar code on some cars for???

When itook my old car for a smog check they scan the bar code and it appered on the computer. I'm assuming that it is to veriffy that you haven't swap any parts. Or if the guy helping you at the Part Department is an idiot then he can just scan the part and it will show the part number.

well....if ur talkin about the litle stickers all over ther car, like under the hood, on the fender, on the trunk, its the best way to tell if the car has been in an accident. a factory car has these stickers all over the place.

the bar code to my knowledge just stores the VIN#.......They use it for smog tests and other things to help save time in typing the darn thing in to the computer.............

yeah they use them to get access into apartment complexes or country clubs, and you can't take steal them either, when you try to take them off it rips easily so theres no way you can rip it on in one piece.....
